Premise: Have mothers gone mad? They magically do it all, yet never quite think they've accomplished enough. Christine Carr helps us to realize that we need to start recognizing the comedy, give mothers some credit, and take a good hard look at the ridiculousness of high-octane parenting. While she does not pretend to have all the answers, nor claim to have this parenthood thing all figured out, she does provide some hard-hitting anecdotes and advice in her first book, MOTHER DAZE.
According to a 2007 survey conducted by The American Psychological Association, moms between the ages of 35 – 40 feel more stress than any other age group as they balance child and parental care. Unfortunately, many of these conscientious women spend most of their days doubting their every move, and the author wanted to finally grant women a high-five for everything they get done!
The book is filled with SHORT chapters (great for reading on the go, when you have to kill time in Dr's office, etc) with hilarious reminders of the comedy of errors all parents come across when we embark to be 'the best parents they can be'. Mother Daze begins with a story that sparked the author's motivation to write the book. It then goes from her first pregnancy, to being a parent, and then the many issues associated with master-minding an entire household of responsibilities. Chapter titles include: Angel’s Among Us, Value Your Friendships, Mental Medicine, Cherish Your Mother, Life is Like a PE Class, The Octopus, and Maternal Expressway, to name a few.
