PIP/ Product Review/ Giveaway/CLOSED: Whimsy Couture Sewing Patterns

As you know from other reviews this past week, I went strolling in Etsy-land, that plethora that stands in for Disneyland for adults, and found the most interesting items! Don't you think the dress on the left is just TOO cute???? So did I!

Darling daughter is turning 3 and is heading toward 37 inches tall and is long torsoed, and on the thin side, so we are already having problems getting good fitting clothes. if they fit well, they're too short. Or they fit length wise but are too big....so I know my days of sewing are upon me! (Like my mother and grandmother before me...SIGH).

Now, unlike my grandmother, I am not a master seamstress. I can do fairly decent and while my technique may not always be perfect, the items are wearable ad that's what counts! So if I can find patterns that are easy to use and produce super results every time- I'm buying them in multiples!

So when I came across Whimsy Couture, I knew I had found a site that would become my new addiction! Don't you love her adorable chandelier blog site button/logo? Tres cute!

I immediately wanted the pattern for her Knot Dress as it is the cutest ones I have seen! Denise sells her patterns as e-patterns, so you get them right away and can print them out how you like. I personally love not having to deal with all that tissue paper and cutting and cutting and cutting! I'm going to cut mine out and trace onto muslin, so I have a much easier pattern to work with! Most of her patterns go from 6m to size EIGHT. That means you get THREE patterns in one! Go look at the fabric store and you'll see that for that size range, you need anywhere from 2-3 patterns (and lots of money!). 

Denise also had the cutest ready made dresses and shirts! I was lusting after the cute little girl with twirl skirt above and don't you know Denise was kind enough to send it along for review and because she is just TOO sweet? She even made it short sleeved for me, after I told her darling daughter prefers them! The t-shirt is a wonderful soft knit and the fabric is just wonderful! Unfortunately it's a little too big on darling daughter, so we're gonna see if it fits during the summer!

I knew I had to get Denise's applique patterns set as well!  Over 80 patterns including the alphabet? Oh yeah, I knew I was gonna need those! I love them! It is so great to be able to resize them on my computer and THEN print them out- no wasting of paper tracing them out larger or smaller! And as you can see by the pix on the right-you can make ALL sorts of things with them! Don't want to mess with all the making of appliques? Denise has you covered- you can check out ready to go appliques on her other Etsy shop (MyWhimsyGirl) and all you have to do is iron them on- how easy is that??? You even can choose which fabric you want-super neat!

So how did my first foreway into using the patterns go? You can see here on the left!

I took a boys shirt (only plain one I could find at the time!) and added a fabric ruffle at the bottom to make it more 'girly', then printed out one of Denise's applique butterflies (sorry Denise, I rounded the wings off some, more kid friendly for a play shirt!). I traced it onto the iron on fusible fabric, then ironed that onto my fabric. Cut out and ironed onto the shirt. Literally it took me 30 minutes and the shirt was done. Now i plan on going back and zig-zagging around the applique to make it stand out more, but sewing machine tension went off, so that's gonna have to wait til machine is back from the shop!

Daughter loves it, it was easy and everybody is happy!
