Book Review and Giveaway: Blind Hope by Kim Meeder and Laurie Sacher

** THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED ***

I grew up with animals, especially dogs, so I'm an easy mark if it's a dog story! So when Ashley over at Random House offered me this great book to read/review and giveaway, I was  happy to jump on board!

Blind HopeAn unwanted dog. An emotional rescue.
Sometimes the life you save may be your own.

Synopsis: Laurie had her own shattered dreams before she came to work at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch—the ranch of rescued dreams—where broken horses and broken children encounter healing every day. Reaching out to save a dog in need, Laurie soon realized that the dog was rescuing her

An inspiring true story told through the engaging voice of Kim Meeder, Blind Hope reveals poignant life lessons Laurie experienced from her ailing, yet courageous canine friend. Despite the blindness of her dog—and her own heart—Laurie uncovered what she really needed most: authentic love, unconditional trust, and true acceptance, faults and all.

As Laurie and her dog, Mia, both learned to follow the lead of a master they couldn’t see, Laurie discoverd the transforming power of God’s selfless love even for imperfect and selfish people—and she experienced a greater love than she has ever known.

“Love is a bridge that stands firm through difficulties and connects one heart directly to another, not because of how it looks, but because of what it is.”

Author Info: Meeder is the cofounder and director of Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch, an organization that rescues abused and dying horses and pairs them with children in need. Kim’s first book, Hope Rising, propelled the ranch to win the national Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award and launched her extensive public/motivational speaking schedule at schools, churches, and governmental conferences across the United States. She and her husband, Troy, have been married for twenty-five years and live in Central Oregon. The size of their family fluctuates each year with the number of horses and kids that they rescue.

Review: Ok, go get the Kleenex (or whatever brand you use), then come back and sit and read this book. A) if you're a dog lover, you're gonna cry like a baby, so expect it and b)you will be so inspired by the path that Laurie and Mia take in their own recoveries and together as they learn to be dog and master. If you are a dog owner, you know the path they took in many regards- how the trust comes and how a unbreakable thread can exist between human and canine in a way that doesn't seem to happen as much with other animals.
Any child will tell you that their dog is their ultimate companion- the holder of their dreams, hurts and love. In their journey, Laurie learned more about herself than she thought, and as Mia learned faith in Laurie, Laurie learned faith in God (and Mia) and found her way to a new life. This is an excellent book in showing how God's love can come to us in many varying forms, when we aren't expecting it, to show us the wonder of all his creations, especially faith.

Random House was kind enough to offer one of you a chance to win this book as well!
