Review: I've reviewed a whole lot of exercise and diet books this past year. I wish I could say this one was totally different, but it is based on the same principles as the rest- healthy eating, exercise and changing eating habits. The book is based on her Eat-Clean diet, which is basically no sugar, white carbs or junk food. Common sense to most people there. She also advocates 6 mini meals per day. This is where the problems may come in for people with hectic schedules, as she wants you to have a meal every 2-3 hours. So call it 5-50 on that principle.
What she does right in this book is point out roadblocks and how you can work around them. She also shows good pictures of the exercises. HOWEVER, most of the ones she showed for HOME, versus GYM, were using exercise equipment, you probably do NOT have at home. But the exercises are pretty much the weight training program that a professional trainer did for me more than 17 (eek) years ago, so they are basics that WORK.
She also insists on taking things one step at a time. Again, great for getting you onto a diet program. But alas, the examples she showed were not what I would call super -encouraging. Seriously, most only had to loose 40-50 lbs. Show me you plan works for those over 75 lbs overweight, and I will see it more than moderation plan.
I would say I was not over impressed with the book, as others have been. I think it has some good foundations in it, but there really were a ton of pictures of the author (I guess they were supposed to helpful, but I eventually found them irritating), where more info or recipes could have gone. the book groups alot of info from different plans/ideas of thought into one book, making for convenient reading. If you are looking for a generalized, changing your habits and getting good exercise habits, then I would say this book is for you. If you are in a diet rut, then probably not. I would still say it's helpful, just not one I would say is the top of my exercise/diet book list. But it may work better for you, so it's worth a check out at your local bookstore to see if it is more suitable to you. or you can try to win this copy!
