Gratitude.
It’s
defined in Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary as: “the state of being grateful : thankfulness.”
It tends
to be one thing we take for granted at times.
As a
writer, I wouldn’t have made it without the friends I’ve met along the way
which include other writers, bloggers, fans, and reviewers. My book would have been figuratively sitting
on the shelf, gathering dust. Without
promotion from wonderful people, I wouldn’t have sold as many copies of my
book, Piercing Through the Darkness, as I have.
To say
that I am grateful, well, that’s an understatement. I owe these people my career, but you know,
it’s easy to forget to thank them personally for what they’ve done, although I
am so very grateful.
But
let’s put the writing career aside for a moment. Although that’s an important part of my life,
it’s not the only part.
Where
would we be without our family and friends?
They’re the people who keep us going.
They’re the people we turn to when we need a shoulder to cry on. They’re the ones who support us. They’re the
people who love us.
Gratitude
is something we shouldn’t exclude from our lives. It’s something we should express throughout
the year and not only when Thanksgiving (for those who celebrate it) rolls
around.
A nice
“Thank you” card sent to loved ones or a simple phone call for no specific
reason could make a world of difference.
I’m not saying I’m perfect at this.
Sometimes, I lose sight of gratitude.
I let moments pass without saying thank you, and I ought to do
better. I ought to remember that I
wouldn’t have gotten to where I am without all of these wonderful people in my
life.
In everything we do, we ought to give thanks. Be grateful for the things we have in life.
Be grateful for the people
we have in our lives. Show gratitude
whether it’s in your personal life or professional. You will see a brighter day, and feel so much
better for having been grateful for the people helping us become who we
are.
As the
Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5: 18 (NKJV): “In every thing give
thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Great reminder that we should be thankful to those close to us and let them know! It's so easy to take them for granted.
