Book Review and Giveaway: Inside the Minds of Car Dealers by Ray Lopez

With money as tight as it for all of us, car shopping is one of those things that may not be on our lit right now. AND if it is, you want to get the BEST deal possible, right? No walking out of the dealership feeling like you got superbly taken advantage of? But how do you KNOW if you didn't get 'proverbially screwed?"

inside the minds of car dealers cover
Enter Ray Lopez! As a car salesman for over 30 years, he knows what he's talking about! In this book, he'll teach you every psychological and manipulative tactics that typical car salesmen and dealerships use against you to make you pay more than you want to, even buying a car you didn't want! He gives you 12 crucial dos and dont's to car buying.

The big one is why you should UNDER VALUE your car's value, when researching it on the internet, so you don't have sticker shock when they lo-ball you on a trade in amount. He recommends that unless your car has been driven less than 5,000 miles and parked in a garage it's whole life, you should value your car at FAIR, when using online tools. Why? because dealers will find EVERY little thing wrong with your car, that you and most people would ignore on an used car!

You should also accept that the dealership needs to make money and learn his trick to figure out how much you should allow them in your deal! You want to research on the internet? Great, but don't tell the salesman, or let them see any print outs- they'll use ti against you and play up to you about how much you know. they'll get you trapped into a corner of higher costs before you can blink! Same thing with bringing someone with you- they size up that person immediately and either ignore you or do every thing they can to separate that person from you. Divide and conquer!

This book will give you knew insight to what you may have done wrong in the past and what you can do RIGHT on your next car deal, so you CAN walk away thrilled with your new ride and secure that you got the deal YOU wanted! I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about buying a car, no matter if it's their first time or not!

About Ray: In 30 years of car dealing, Ray worked for dealerships for all the major brands, including Nissan, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford and Buick. He estimates he spoke with over 240 potential buyers per month, and in a five-year period, about 14,000 customers. He was able to hone tactics 14,000 times by the time you and I bought ONE car! So he definitely knows what he is doing! For the first 18 years of his career he did whatever he had to make the sale. Then, one time cutting someone a fair deal, made him change his life, and go to work for honest dealerships. Retired Lopez decided to dedicated himself to educating the public on how to not be taken advantage of. He currently lives in Burbank, California, with his two cats.Check out Ray’s websiteBlog, and Facebook page, for more ways to save yourself alot of headaches and money when buying a car!

Book Review and Giveaway: Hotel No-Tell by Daphne Uviller

** this giveaway is closed ** When it comes to mysteries, I find that I tend to like finding new series on the Sophomore books. Why you ask?

Because usually the author has found their character(s) voice(s), they are more comfortable in their writing (especially if the first book of the series WAS their first book published) and the 2nd book has a better flow to it, normally. Plus I like the adventure of going back and catching up!

Today's book is another book that I caught in the second of the series!

hotel no tell cover
Synopsis: The book features the return of Super in the City's Zephyr Zuckerman, a New York City junior investigator.  In this book she goes undercover in a boutique hotel in Greenwich Village Hotel, in order to track down a possible embezzler for the family run hotel. She and her former NYPD boyfriend have split up over a disagreement about reproducing (he wants kids, she doesn’t), and she’s trying to readjust to single life, and same building living, meaning well but intrusive, parents. Add to the mix her old friends, one who’s having a suburban motherhood/marriage meltdown and another who’s having a crisis of wedding planner clients dying on their honeymoons, and you have a crazy plot that keeps your interest.

Review: The book has alot of characters but the author never looses site of them and what seems like a loose tangent comes back later in the story and completes another tangent, and tying into the plot line! This is a good old-fashioned summer read and I am looking forward to getting the first book in the series and catching up on it (and what appears to be the next one coming soon!) . In many ways it reminded me of Sex and the CIty, as far as the friendships went. If you like chick lit and mysteries, you'll love this book!

About the Author: Daphne is a former Books/Poetry editor at Time Out New York, as well as a writer for The Washington Post, The New York Times, New York Magazine, Oxygen, Allure, and Self, among othersA third-generation West Villager, Daphne lives in the Hudson Valley with her husband and two children. Check out her website for more.
