And now for an English author who will AMAZE you with this story!
Synopsis: As teenagers Poppy Carlisle and Serena Gorringe were the only witnesses to a high-profile murder. Amid heated public debate, the two seemingly glamorous teens were dubbed "The Ice Cream Girls" by the press and were dealt with by the courts-Poppy headed to prison after being convicted for murder and Serena was set free.
Years later, after having led very different lives, Poppy is keen to set the record straight about what really happened. The only problem is she has no one to turn to and no clue where to begin her hunt for Serena.
Meanwhile, Serena is married with children and wants no one in her present to find out about her past. Constantly looking over her shoulder, Serena knows she should come clean to her husband, however, she can't seem to find the words.
With Poppy determined to salvage what's left of her reputation, Serena may not have a choice in reopening a can of worms that may threaten both their lives...again.
Review: WOW was my exact thought when I finished the book. Koomson keeps you guessing til literally the very end of the book, as to what really happened that fateful night between Serena and Poppy and 'the murder'. I started the book intending to read a couple of chapters and FINISHED it in one sitting, as I literally could NOT put it down until I found out what really had happened!
Koomson does an excellent job in making you see how the story is affected and influenced by each of the different personalities. By giving you the altering views of the same incidents in the past of the 2 main characters, you truly see how the 'victim', was anything but that. She takes what is too often a current situation and shows how a simple, and innocent, opportunity can spiral into something very convuluted and evil. The book is not for the faint of heart (seduction and abuse are at play), but a must for every parent to read! Koomson does an excellent job of showing the horrors within, and the facades that hide them. Read this one and you will be off to read the rest of Koomson's books as well!
