Antique Tractor Show!

We recently attended an antique tractor show put on by the International Harvester Collectors, Louisiana Chapter 31, held at the county fairgrounds, and I wanted to share some of the photos with you, as you might find them pretty interesting!

Most of the tractors below have been restored. They are from the '20s-'40s!

IH Local President and our cousin, with Miss Grace
(who graciously promoted the Krewe of Erin at the event!!

High boy restored tractor.
Miss Grace had to climb up on it, sash and all.
You can't hold the tom girl down when there are TRACTORS around, LOL!

If you're gonna have a farm truck, it should match your antique tractor!

Our Miles Branch restored historic area was open and the kids had a blast going from cabin to cabin, pretending it was the'old days'. It was interesting seeing the knowledge of how their great great grandparents lived sink in finally!

Heading to the church on time.
According to Miss Grace, they will be doing this in 19 years, to the tune of
"Going to the Chapel"....sigh....

They learned about earlier 'moving pictures', confederate money and black powder guns.
Take a guess at what was more interesting to the Southern kids!
Yup!

:"Hey MOM, they had the same songs we sing in church!"
(Yes since that hymnal is from early 1920s)

And yes this is a replica church, complete with log benches, log lecturn for the bible,
piano in the corner and heater in the middle of the room!

Papa and Aunt Ali!
(no they didn't plan it in advance, just safer than wearing the wrong
tractor shirt and getting razzed by the cousins!)

It felt like family week, as everywhere we turned was another cousin.
That happens when you descend from one of the original settler families of the area!

Iron work at it's simplest!

The kids were amazed he could use a BBQ and forge iron!
Pretty cool stuff!

"Hey Papa, can I have one? Or three?"

And yes, she went for the John Deeres!

Because....

Shhh. don't tell anybody- she was wearing her John Deere socks!
She has declared her allegiance!

But this one caught her eye too....

And now for our country moment....
 "that's a good tractor Papa"

and speaking of....

The front tractor is what they look like in mid restoration!

And finally- you can win this tractor too!

Seriously! You can go online and see what events will be happening in the Southern area,
and attend and buy tickets! The giveaway isn't until August!
So who wants a IH tractor?????

Hope you enjoyed this pictures!
