I don't know about your household, but ours is currently under the 'holiday onslaught'.

You know where you receive at least 8 catalogs a day from companies you haven't ordered from in 2 years?

And let's not for get about all the postcards and mailers too!

Sigh...

Did you know that each year, approximately 85,000,000,000 pieces of unwanted mail are sent to consumers in the United States, 44 percent of which is delivered to unwelcoming recipients (like our family and yours)?

This high volume of "junk mail" is especially evident during the months of November and December, when residents become inundated with holiday shopping catalogs that arrive with the letter carrier each day. This paper mail costs the planet a total of 169 million trees each year and constitutes nearly 30 percent of American garbage.

As we begin the 2013 holiday ONSLAUGHT season, it's worth pointing out that there's a simple app, called PaperKarma, that can help your family opt out of this vicious cycle of waste, de-clutter your mailboxes and counter tops, and make "every day earth day" by helping reduce paper waste.

Paper Karma is a highly effective app. It allows users to stop unwanted snail mail by just snapping a picture on your smart phone, and pressing "send."

PaperKarma then unsubscribes you from a database of 10,000 mailers. It's currently rated 4.3 out of 5 in Apple's app store, and was named one of Apple's "Disruptive Apps of 2012" (along with Airbnb, Uber and Square).  Queen Latifa recently featured PaperKarma on her show as one of "five apps that will change your life":, you can see the video at  https://queenlatifah.com/PaperKarma

It does take about a month for some of the mail to stop, so be prepared for it not to be immediate, but give it time and you will see a HUGE difference, and next year, you won't have the paper rush you did this year!
