Synopsis:
From internationally bestselling author Harriet Evans comes an intriguing and fresh new novel about a famous modern-day actress whose fate becomes intertwined with a glamorous movie star from the 1950s who vanished many years earlier.

Sophie Leigh’s real name is Sophie Sykes. But she hasn’t been called that for years, not since she became an A-list movie star. Living in Hollywood, she can forget all about her old life in England and the tragedy she left behind. But in the process, she’s lost something of herself, too.

Eve Noel didn’t choose her name. A Hollywood producer did. In fact, he makes all the decisions for her—what to wear, when to smile, who to love. A product of the 1950s, Eve has none of Sophie’s modern self-confidence, but she knows she must follow her heart. One day, she simply vanishes: no one knows where she went, or why…

As Sophie’s perfect-on-the-outside world begins to crumble, it seems her life might be linked to Eve’s. And when past and present collide, Sophie must unravel the mystery around Eve’s disappearance to save them both—but is she already too late?

Mom read this one for me, so this is her review!

Review:

This is a very quick read (Mom read it in like 2 hours!). The book is very much a modern update of 'All About Eve', one of my favorite all time movies, meets 'Sunset Blvd'. For me it was more of chick lit meets Hollywood meets Inside Stories. I felt like I knew where the book was going about a fourth of the way in, and I ended up being correct. The author dies a great job bringing out the characters and getting the reader involved in the back and forth flashback story to present day story line. It's not a bad story, in fact I would call it perfect for poolside/beach reading

About the Author:

I live in London, and I write full time, having given up my job (working in publishing) to do so four years ago. I live with my partner Chris (half American) and our little girl Cora (thus a quarter American, if that's how fractions work. Is that how fractions work?) near the canal. At the moment Cora likes watching the swans and the boats go by. She also likes asking, 'Who datman? Who dat lady?' of every single person we walk past - fun times! I really love hearing from my US readers so please do stop by my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/harrietevansbooks to say hi or find me on Twitter, @HarrietEvans.
