Synopsis:

Finding one dead body is unlucky.
Finding two means you’re Bella Bree MacGowan.

Most people can relax by an idyllic riverside without fishing a dead body out of the water; Bree MacGowan is not most people. And as luck would have it, it's not just any old corpse she's tripped over this time. It's the late wife of Senator R. Carl Wallace, a paragon of upstanding American citizenship to anyone who looks… unless they look too closely. Which is, of course, exactly what Bree does, and what she finds is definitely more trouble than she bargained for.

Where power and murder collide, danger follows, and Bree soon finds herself the target of break-ins, vandalism and kidnapping, all at the hands of the dubious Senator who insists that she identify two criminals she’s never seen before as the people who killed his wife. Now Bree has to save herself and the ones she loves from a conspiracy where the bad guys look good, the good guys look bad, and nothing is as it seems…

Review:
I literally loved this book from page 3. Seriously, I KNEW I was going to love Bree and the characters around her, and I did! Add in a mystery with so many turns, and more enchanting characters (are they bad? good? grey? a kidnapper who likes to cook?), and a whole lot of humor, and I was literally hooked- I could NOT put this book down! The ending took me a bit by surprise, but it was so PERFECTLY supremely done, that I won't give any of it away. Just say you'll be laughing and smiling as you close the book! This book really is like a mix of many different genres, that is it hard to pin down as strictly a mystery!

This is actually book 2 in the Bree series and I can't wait to read book 1 (Moonlighting in Vermont) and the next book (Crazy Little Thing Called Dead)! You don't have to have read the previous book- the author gives you enough background, without telling you the WHOLE story, so you still have to read Book 1 to find out what happened! I read this book in ONE sitting and I can't recommend it enough and a perfect light read to welcome in Spring! Pick up all 3 and you'll have perfect outside reading material!

About the Author:
Kate George is the author of the popular Bree MacGowan mystery series, which started when she took up a dare to write a book; the result was Moonlighting in Vermont. She was born in Sacramento, California, was raised on a ranch until the age of eight, and graduated from UC Davis with a degree in anthropology. She is currently working on her MFA. She has been, in no particular order, a paste-up tech, a motorcycle safety instructor, a waitress, an actor, a housekeeper at a swank hotel and the assistant to the dean of a medical school, all of which provide plenty of fodder for her novels. Currently, she lives in an old farmhouse in the backwoods of Vermont with her husband, four kids, three rescue dogs, and a *squirrel that lives in her bedroom wall, where by day she teaches and by night, she dreams up wild adventures for her characters. Visit her at kategeorge.com. She always loves to hear from readers!

*At least we think it's a squirrel. It could be a chipmunk, vole, fishercat, woodchuck or even a bat. But we've SEEN a squirrel so that's what we're betting on.

  1. Thanks so much for the glowing review. It makes me very happy when readers enjoy my books. I'm suggesting you read The second version of Crazy Little Thing Called Dead (it's called Crazy Little Thing Called Dead Take Two.) It's more fun and less tragic that the first version.

I'm so glad you like my books!
