When I have the time, I love crafting, and making something personal to give to family and friends.

With Miss Grace, it seems like that time has been slim up to recent, as time was just never there,
but as she is getting older SHE wants to craft along with me, so now we have dedicated times and days to do so!

So I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to check out a new collection from Spellbinders, a papercrafts company, whose products I love! Spellbinders makes dies and stamp sets, printed paper and sets, and stamp inks. The Celebra'tions Collection works well together, as all the pieces were designed by Richard Garay to be complimentary! That not only saves you time, it allows you to come up with some great paper craft ideas very easily!

I received a kit from Spellbinders, that included items to make a celebration card and tags. I chose to use the card for my review, and to share the tags set with you (giveaway time)!

The celebrations card, as the pattern shows above, was meant to be a birthday type hat for a birthday card. Hmmm, well all the birthdays are past for the moment, and I do have a friend's baby arrival coming up, so I decided to change it to a baby shower card! So Miss Stephanie, if you're reading this post, STOP now and go BACK, you're NOT allowed to see the card yet! LOl

My kit for the celebrations card included blue cardstock for the card itself, white cardstock matting the patterned paper on, a waffle patterned cone for the hat, paper flower and insets, twice, a celebrations tag, and sequins, all shown on the original pattern (above and below in top box).

To the kit I added some paper cut outs and stickers, I had left from a previous project. I also decided to change up the style of the card, by putting the white mat on an angle, like a diamond, and then putting the paper squared as shown, This automatically gives the card more height and interest, and mimics the angles of the hat. I then was able to place the hat at a lower angle. I made a flower shape out of the twine and glued it down on the bottom of the hat. I then used one of the paper flowers and put it on the top of the hat. I took the left over twine, and punched two holes through the top of the card, and ran the twine through and knotted. This I made the card into a hanging card, that can go on the outside of the basket of goodies for mom and baby, for the baby shower!

Next was placing the celebrate tag on top of the twine flower and using a paper bump mount to place the other paper flower on it. This helped to add more dimension.I then added the flower inset on top of the bottom flower. A cute paper cut out of a pregnant mama went on the top left.  I then added a sequin to the top flower on the hat, and to the bow in mama's hair. Tada! The front was done!

Now on to the inside! I placed a sticker with a baby bassinet on the bottom, and then glued on some more of the paper cuts outs and a 'Gift of God' sticker. I angled them to again replicate the angles of the front, for more cohesion, and for more visual happiness. I then used the Spellbinders Celebra'tions 'Many Words' stamp set that was included in the package, to add the words Celebrate Together and Love. I love clear photopolymer stamps- it is SO easy to see where you are stamping and to have an idea what it will look like when you're done! Even better, the ones from Spellbinders have a special cling technology that allows them to cling to rubber blocks, if you choose to use them! I do cut mine up when they are on big blocks like these, as it makes it easier to use them. And waa-la, the card was done, except for adding a personal note and signature (which I didn't add, as I don't trust somebody from not being a nosy gus and reading this whole post!).

All in all, it only took me about 15 minutes to complete the card, and that included the 5 minutes to get all my extra items, glue and stamp pad together! Easy peasy! With these products, it is easy to make your own personalized cards (you know how much more they will be appreciated!). I like making personalized cards, as you can match them to your gift/gift package theme. I've even had friends before that have framed cards for their baby's nursery! Yup- they truly are mini pieces of art from the heart!

And to help you on YOUR way to making art and showing YOUR creativity, I'm sharing the Spellbinders Celebra'tions kit I received with one BTHM reader!
