Why is this important?
At very high temperatures, PTFE begins to decompose and release fumes which are documented to be lethal to birds and small pets, and which can be harmful to humans. In addition, traditional pans incorporating PTFE are often manufactured with the aid of PFOA (PerFluoroOctanoic Acid), which the EPA has classified as a 'persistent pollutant of the environment'. With the Green Earth Pan's GREBLON ceramic from Germany, even under high temperatures, no harmful toxic fumes are ever released into the environment. This is because the Green Earth Pan utilizes a 100% ceramic coating inspired by nature - not a laboratory.
The Green Earth Pan is far more durable and scratch-resistant than other non-stick surfaces. With better non-stick properties, the Green Earth Pan allows you to saute, fry, bake, boil and braise with as little as half the amount of oil normally used, and cleaning is a breeze.
The elevations of the textured cooking surface create air pockets which distribute heat underneath food to enhance cooking performance. I was really amazed at how lean and tasty these burgers came out! Plus they cooked a lot quicker than my usual pan! That is great for the busy back to school season and dinners on the run! But the best part though, was how easy to clean the pan is! All I had to do was rinse with hot water and it was clean! You gotta love that!
The comfortable silicon handle makes holding the pan while flipping items very easy to do, no pot holder required! I used the pan for making quesedillas (we use the smaller tortillas) and was quite surprised at how ell it cooked with just a touch of olive oil! As you can see, I got a nice evenly browned tortilla and nicely meted cheese!
Ozeri also sends a felt pan insert with your Green Earth pan, to help protect the cooking surface, if you stack your pans. It's the thoughtful touch that marks Ozeri as the company for kitchenware!
The Green Earth pans are available in the 8" size I reviewed, 10" and 12" frying pan. You can also buy a set of all 3 sizes, which I highly recommend as well. They also have a wok pan! Mom was rather impressed with that size and design, and if the time comes for a new one, we'll be getting it!
Christmas is coming, so give your family a healthier school year now, and think about sharing these pans with friends and family for Christmas!
