Competitive Crafters, Drop-Off Despots, and Other Suburban Scourges

Pretty much makes you want to pick it up, doesn't it??
LOL

Synopsis:

A debut collection of witty, biting essays laced with a surprising warmth, from Jen Mann, the writer behind the popular blog People I Want to Punch in the Throat

People I want to punch in the throat:
• anyone who feels the need to bling her washer and dryer
• humblebraggers
• people who treat their pets like children

Jen Mann doesn’t have a filter, which sometimes gets her in trouble with her neighbors, her fellow PTA moms, and that one woman who tried to sell her sex toys at a home shopping party. Known for her hilariously acerbic observations on her blog, People I Want to Punch in the Throat, Mann now brings her sharp wit to bear on suburban life, marriage, and motherhood in this laugh-out-loud collection of essays. From the politics of joining a play group, to the thrill of mothers’ night out at the gun range, to the rewards of your most meaningful relationship (the one you have with your cleaning lady), nothing is sacred or off-limits. So the next time you find yourself wearing fuzzy bunny pajamas in the school carpool line or accidentally stuck at a co-worker’s swingers party, just think, What would Jen Mann do? Or better yet, buy her book.

Review:
"I let my kids make decisions for themselves, but some things are not up for discussion. When it's cold, they wear a coat.”

1. Buy this book
2. Buy a box of kleenex
3. Drop the kids off at school
4. Make yourself a drink/coffee, and spend the day with this book!

This book was hysterical! I found myself laughing so MUCH,  I was crying by the 4th chapter. This is the book that you wish you had written. Jen has no filter (she admits it), and her take on family life, and the antics that her kids have gotten into (and how they came to be born to start with) are ones that every mom can relate to. This is one of those books you can read chapters in the car line each day picking up the kids, but I don't recommend it, as you may have to explain all the snorting, laughing and crying you're doing, and that yes, it's ok to let you have your kids! This is a book you need to give yourself time to read. You'll find yourself telling everybody about it, but not wanting to share your copy!

So if you're looking for relief from the crazy Back to School business, treat yourself to this book!

Jen is offering free book plates for anyone who buys this book too!
