Recipe Weekend /Cookbook Review: Made from Scratch Soups (Giveaway!) and Made from Scratch Pasta from Parragon Books

Today I have a double set of cookbooks for you!

Both of these books are from Parragon's new Everyday Easy Home Cooking Series, (which also includes Baking and Vegetarian, so far).

Review:

This book has a really great selection of pastas that are perfect for year round comfort food making! The recipes take the traditional recipes at add a new touch or two, to either make the recipe easier, or bring a new taste to it. They are are very easy to make, and I love the colored photos with EVERY recipe (which makes this a good starter cookbook series for the new cook!).

They also show pictures of any steps that might need explaining- another great plus!We found so many recipes we wanted to make that just about every page was marked! I'm sharing the recipe for Turkey Pasta Casserole, above, that could actually be made with any ground or shredded meat, but is super for those holiday leftovers that you know are coming your way! As you can see, it isn't complicated- all the recipes are one page- but has enough flavor that you know your family will love it!

Making delicious soups from scratch isn't difficult, nor necessarily very time-consuming as this collection of over 50 classic and new recipes proves. Review:

Like the Pasta book,this is a very good year round book, but if you're like our family, you really wanted soups in Fall and Winter. And this book does a great job in bringing fresh Fall veggies and Winter holiday leftovers to new levels with these super quick recipes


This is a variation of a Cream of Mushroom soup that my mom makes- it is SO yummy, and you can add different veggies, if you want to! You can also change out the turkey to shrimp, pork or chicken, very easily!

I love this set of books and highly recommend them as a great holiday gift, both for foodies AND for new cooks in your family. At an UNDER $10 price, you may want to pick up a bunch of them for holiday hostess gifts too!

  4. Our favorite soup when the weather is cold, or when we have colds, is Mexican Chicken Soup. It is spicy and filling and it really warms us up.
