And now for today's crafting feature!
Have you heard about The Happy Trunk?
They offer open-ended fun arts and crafts, and science kits for kids ages 3-11!
The Happy Trunk is a family of parents, educators, and crafters bringing in real life experiences and craft and science projects, that they love doing with their own kids! Their hope is to inspire and encourage creativity in children through hands on activities. They chose their company name as ‘The Happy Trunk’, as they hoped their projects and activities would engage kids meaningfully, and bring a smile to their faces, while doing these projects as well as later. Most of these activities can be used thereafter for more imaginative and role play activities, after they are completed!
We were sent one of the Holiday kits to try out- The Familia:
The kit includes 8 peg dolls (different sizes), paint, decorative paper, decoupage medium, ribbon, embellishments and instructions. Decoupage a family of little people to make your own story or as part of a fun adventure.
As you can see our kit came with a lovely assortment of scrap papers, ribbons, crystals brush and the modgepodge glue for decoration. Ours did not have the paint included, so we just grabbed our craft markers and Miss Grace was set!
I let Miss Grace go to town on her own, and was available is assistance was needed- like pressing down a piece of paper, while she glued a spot that wasn't sticking, or helping to hold crystals in place for a teen's necklace! I loved how she made her faces! She let me color the hair on one of the kids, as she wanted to take a snack break, but then she was back to finish her family!
As you can see, her family was pretty well divided between boys and girls. One of the teens has HOT pink hair, while everyone else covers all hair colors in the normal spectrum! I loved how she brought the long hair down onto the dresses, and even had a braid or two coming down on the little kids! She's already decided to use the leftovers and some popsicle sticks to make a little 'house' for the family, so they can have a tableau on the Thanksgiving table! She also has plans for them in the Christmas decor as well. I told her she needed to write a journal of their adventures, and she's thinking about that one.LOL.
It was interesting to watch her at work on this set- she was so dedicated to a certain look she had in her mind. Ribbons were too fussy, crystals too much bling (except for the teen, "cause she's a teenager"), and the boys had to be color coordinated too! The kit was a fun way to see her creativity at work!
Other holiday craft kits include.Christmas Countdown, Holiday Snowglobe, Holiday Cards and a Pocket Fairy Kit, among others! You can also subscribe to monthly art kits. Plus they have fun party packs! The subscriptions and creativity kits start at $19.95 (under $20). The large kits have enough supplies for 2-3 project each, making them really good deals! All of the available products are perfect for holiday gift giving, as they encourage imagine and creativity! They would also be great to take with you to grandma's house over the holidays, to help keep the kids occupied on inside days, while there for the holidays!
So be sure to add The Happy Trunk to your holiday gift giving list!
