Do you know what essential oils are?

Have you, or a friend used them before?

I've used them off an on over the years, and was thrilled to be able to check out a new line of oils.

Essential oils are defined as "natural oils typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic fragrance of the plant or other source (ie herbs, trees, grasses) from which it is extracted" The best essential oils are distilled from their source via steam-distilling or cold-pressing type methods, as these methods extract more pure oil from the source. Essential oils may seem like they are expensive, but you have to consider what goes into extracting them from their source. For example it takes over 6 million Jasmine blossoms to yield 32 ounces of oil. Whew! That is a LOT of flowers being grown! A 4 oz bottle of essential oil can last a VERY long time, as typically you only use a drop or two at at time, making them cost effective in the long run!

I was recently sent a bottle of  La Luna Naturals Pure Peppermint Essential Oil to review. It is 100% Pure and natural, with no fillers or additives. Best yet, it is steam distilled, so it is perfect for therapeutic uses! Plus it is Kosher and Vegan Certified. It is also certified by the NAHA (National Associate for Holistic Aromatherapy), so you know you are getting a top quality product!

Packaged in the USA, the oil also comes with a premium glass dropper, so you are ready to use the oil right away. I love that the dropper becomes the new top of your bottle, so you can use it to seal up your oil, after the first use, and never have to go looking for your dropper! The larger 4 oz bottle will last and last and last, making it a great budget buy as well!

Peppermint Essential Oil has analgesic (pain relief) and anti-inflammatory properties,  and has been used for hundreds of year, s to relive nasal congestion, among other ailments. That is the primary way we have been using it, by adding it to an oil/candle warmer in Miss Grace's room. By adding a couple of drops, the oils is heat infused out into her room and combined with the oils from the candle (lavender and chamomile), allow her sinuses to open and clear, and helps her to fall asleep faster, and sleeper deeper. heat dispersion methods like this are perfect for small rooms, like a bedroom. Additionally if an oil is extracted via a cold press method, a warm dispersal method may beak them down quickly (cold methods like a cool mist diffuser are better for them).

No oil warmer or atomizer diffuser? You can make your own inhaler by applying 1-2 drops of the Peppermint Essential oil to the palm of your hand, then rub your hands together and cup them over your nose. Then inhale deeply for 4-6 breaths. You should have an immediate relief and result!

Collect the desired number of cotton balls, based on the area you’d like to treat. Add 1-2 drops of peppermint oil to each ball. then place the oil balls in areas where you have problems.

Bonus:

Spring is mere weeks away! Did you know that ticks dislike peppermint oil and will release their grip once the oil is applied to them?
