How Many Times do I Have to Tell You? cover

Synopsis:

"I remember the day you were born."
"Turn down the music!"
"You make me smile."
"Hold my hand."
"This is going to hurt me more than it's going to hurt you."

You've probably said something similar to your kids, but have you really listened to what you're saying? The truth is, your Father in heaven wants to tell you many of these same things.

Rachael Carman knows how noisy it can be when you're raising children. (She has seven!) But these insightful, heartwarming readings will help you to hear God's still, small voice amid the chaos of carpools, boo-boo fingers, and carpet crawlers. You'll learn to recognize and appreciate God's instructions for your life, even as you seek to follow His example as a parent.

Review

If you can get through ONE chapter without laughing and smiling in parental acknowledgement of ' been there got that t-shirt", I'd be VERY surprised! Rachel shares stories and moments that we can all relate to- calling kids by the wrong name, sending them 3 aisles over in the store for a product they don't return with, watching your kids walk half a block to a friend's house "just on case", or cake sizes not being equal. Parenthood can be tough, but Rachael shares her tales and then relates them to us as moments to see God's hand urging us to stop and see the beauty around us, to stop stressing to much, or even just to hear without distraction what God is telling you. She ends each of the 68 small chapters (each based on a common parental comment) with a "Moment of Introspection" to focus on that chapter's topic in your life, and how you can address it better.

This book is perfect for new moms, but best for busy, time laden moms, who need to remember to pause and enjoy all of God's bounty and grace, an important lesson in this Lenten season! I highly recommend it for all your friends and family members with kids- it's the perfect pick me up- funny and full of wisdom from a mother of 7 kids!
