We're talking about parenting and kids this week,
so reviewing Anne's latest edition of the series, begun by her father,
seems quite appropriate!
Synopsis:

Review:
I wasn't sure how it would be having Anne taking over for her father (I had read all of her dad's 18 books in the series), but she surprised me with Spider Woman's Daughter, and now again with this latest novel. She truly understands her father's characters and has succintly aged them and made them her own, while keeping their personalities true. Iy's enjoyabel seeing her she has made Bernie a stronger female character, and getting to more of a equal with Leaphorn and Chee. The book is also an appropriate Mother's Day gift, as it deals with Bernie coping with an aging mother, and issues with her sister, that cause her to loose a vacation with Chee. Yet, she understands how valuable the time she has left with her mother is. Meanwhile Chee follows what seems like something that turns into a web of deceit to be unraveled (a hallmark of a Hillerman mystery), while dealing with his own family member's adventures. This is a great mystery and a solid sophomore follow up for Anne! Kudos to her and looking forward to the next book!
About the Author:
Anne Hillerman, daughter of best-selling mystery writer Tony Hillerman, continued her father's Navajo detective series with "Spider Woman's Daughter," in 2013, and now with this book. Anne, the eldest of Tony and Marie Hillerman's six children, came to New Mexico as a child and enjoys living in the Southwest.
She is the author eight non-fiction books including "Tony Hillerman's Landscape: On the Road with Chee and Leaphorn." She and photographer Don Strel made numerous road trips to photograph and write about the landscapes beloved by New Mexico's best known mystery writer. Working on that book inspired her to take over her father's series, after his death,
She worked for many years as a journalist, receiving awards for her writing from the New Mexico Press Association and the National Federation of Press Women. When she isn't working, Anne likes to ski, garden and experiment with new recipes in the kitchen. She is a founder of the Tony Hillerman Writers Conference held annually in Santa Fe, N.M.
