Clinical studies have proven that people who follow a low carb diet achieve better weight loss than those who follow a traditional low fat diet. And weight loss is THE key to getting your diabetes under control, and keeping it under control. Long-term weight loss can be maintained through low carb’s easy-to-follow lifestyle approach as well. Level Life understands this, so they came up with a product line to meet the needs of a low-carb diet!

Both their shakes and bars are high in protein and fiber, and low in carbs and sugar, to keep your blood sugars stable. They're low glycemic, lactose and gluten free too. They also contain key vitamins and minerals with antioxidants. These are great as a snack or meal replacement!

level life shakes

As you can see the shakes come in 4 tempting flavors- Creamy Caramel, Classic Vanilla, Strawberry Creme and Milk Chocolate. So not only do you have a variety, you're sure to find a favorite! The shakes are ultra rich and yummy- perfect for when you need a meal on the run, to keep from having a low blood sugar episode! So we try to keep some on hand for Dad, so he was eager to try them!

As you can see the shakes serve a very important purpose as well- their protein-fiber blend reduces sugar absorption and blood sugar spikes. Who knew that the Nutrisystem shakes couls send it up so high and then drop? That is never good for a diabetic. And they taste better than the other 2 brands too! They really are thick and creamy like a real shake.

We were sent a variety of the snack bars to try- Caramel Chocoatey Peanut, Chocolately Peanut Crunch, Chocolately Crisp and Double Chocolatey Chip (my personal fav). And yes they ALL have chocolate, because let's be honest. It makes everything taste better, doesn't it? LOL. And sometimes when you're diabetic chocolate can be a huge no-no, so having it in a meal replacement bar is HUGE!

While the bars were supposed to be for DAD to sample and review, I couldn't resist them!
Just look how yummy they look and you can see why!

Seriously, I planned on using a BAR as a meal replacement for breakfast while at work. I was thinking with low carb, protein and steady blood sugar options, it would be a great choice to keep me not only full, but running with plenty of energy all morning. WOW was I shocked at what just HALF a bar did! I was FULL. Literally I could not eat the whole bar! So I ended up having the second half as a mid-morning snack, and was supposed how I lasted 8 hours on one 1 bar, before feeling the need for a meal! Yes, I said 8 HOURS. Now when I did a lot of manual labor at the house, renovating the kids room, I needed the extra energy from a full bar. So if you know you'll be really active, be sure to eat the whole bar. For Dad, he prefers the whole bar at one sitting. It just depends on your body's needs.

And the taste? Let me tell you, we both agree, these bars taste WAY better than any of the 'diet', 'protein', 'diabetic' bars that we've both tasted! In fact they have 83% less sugar and carbs, and 63% more protein and 50% more fiber than similar Glucerna bars! They actually taste like a snack bar that you MADE. You know with great tasting ingredents, not cardboard! Try one and you WILL be hooked! We are! Even Miss Grace got hooked on having one before dance class!

One of toughest and scariest parts of diabetes is low blood sugar episodes, which is Level Life created tasty, fast acting, easier to use glucose gels. The gels contain 15g of fast acting glucose in a pouch, that is easy to carry and easy to use. For Dad, we all try to keep some hard candies on us, when we will be out and about for a logn period of time, in case his blood sugar drops. Finding them in a hurry in a large purse can sometimes be scary! But with these glucose gels in flat, easy to see packs, finding them is easy and opening them is just as quick!

They come in 4 great tasting flavors- Green Apple, Strawberry Banana, Mandarin Orange and Classic Vanilla. You can get them in both 3 count and 12 count boxes (with 18 month expirations), so you can always have enough around! But what really sold us on the gel is that they are similar to what paramedics use to stabilize blood sugar quickly, but effectively, without over-treating you. many of these alternatives contain ingredients that may slow down absorption (such as fats).
Now Dad and I carry them with us whenever we head off for the day or for a festival (Jazz Fest anyone?), knowing that we can keep any low-blood sugar episodes at bay quickly!

Level Life knows that successful diets have to have treats, or due to human nature, they will fail. So they also have a couple of sweet snacks in their product line:  Peanut Butter Cups and Peanut Turtle Bars!

Both snacks have 80% and 60% less sugar, respectively, than the leading candy bars, so you can treat yourself without the guilt! Like the skaes and bars, they are high in protein and fiber, and low in carbs. But that doesn't mean they aren't tasty! In fact I found that I just needed a couple bites of ONE peanut cup to satisfy a sweet tooth urge! Dad ate a whole one and didn't the second, which is saying a lot, as his sweet tooth is way worse than mine!

Level Life shakes, bars and sbacks all have a shelf life on a year, so you CAN stock up and know that you have a while to use the products.
