Review:

This is a GREAT book! I love how it starts with simple projects, like the apron above, or stuffed chickens, below, that are perfect for holing your pins, or for gift giving. She also teaches the basics- differences in fabric, using what you have, and what you really need to start sewing! Older kids could definitely follow along with this book easily, with minimum help.

As you can see, the picture instructions are SO simple to follow, that even Miss Grace was even able  to follow along without help, as far as reading and knowing what to do next. We just have to teach her the techniques as we go along, as she hasn't got beyond the absolute a basics yet.

I love how she also shows different ways to make or finish an item, that really helps kids/new sewers to see the possibilities.

The projects are basic, but they really teach all the needed sewing skills. By the time the new sewer finishes with this book, they will fill confident enough to tackle patterns, bigger projects and even Jane's other books (dolls and creatures). You may find yourself sneaking the book out and using some of the patterns for projects of your own! Many of the projects make great gifts too!

I highly recommend this book for a great Summer project idea and to keep away the "I'm Boreds".
