We recently got to preview the new Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, (Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD also available) from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, that was just released this Tuesday!

This movie is a new take on the Peter Pan story:

Peter (Levi Miller) is a mischievous 12-year-old boy with an irrepressible rebellious streak, but in the bleak London orphanage where he has lived his whole life those qualities do not exactly fly. Then one incredible night, Peter is whisked away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a new friend named James Hook (Garrett Hedlund), Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) to save Neverland and discover his true destiny—to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan.

    Review:

This is a fun retelling of the Peter Pan story, especially for older kids! With the arrival of the other 'adventure movie' at the theatre, later this week, this is a great movie to be able to sit and watch together as a family, and discuss the varying themes within it, like friendship, devotion, belief,  and more, which all lead back to good and evil. It provides plenty of times to discuss :what would you have done?", and to discuss why/why not. you just might be a bit surprised at where your kids' mind sets are, when it comes to these themes!

It is an amazing movie, visually, with enough action and adventure to keep everyone glued to the show! We both really enjoyed the tale, and the ending leaves open the possibility for a second movie, to show what happened to Captain Hook, and why he and Peter came to odd (and how he got the hook!), something that Miss Grace can't wait for! All the actors were well cast, and Hugh Jackman in particular, gives a great go at being a villain!

Why not make a theme night and have some fun party food to go along with the movie? Who knows it might just become a new holiday tradition for your family!
