Synopsis:

Star of A&E’s Duck Dynasty, oldest son of Willie and Korie Robertson, and brother of Dancing with the Stars phenom Sadie Robertson,John Luke Robertson has plenty of wild (and funny) stories to share about growing up Robertson. Staying curious, finding mentors, taking risks, failing (sometimes hilariously), and just doing something are some of the ways John Luke has been inspired to “learn, grow, and do” his dreams.

In Young and Beardless, John Luke Robertson comes face-to face with these questions we all ask ourselves:
  • What do I want to do with my life?
  • How do I discover my God-given calling?
  • How can I make my dreams a reality?
John Luke certainly doesn’t have life figured out, but he’s learned a few things along the way, and he hopes to encourage others on their journey. Be inspired to build your own toolbox, to find inspiration for your God-given passion, to follow your dreams, and to live a meaningful life.
The title of my book is Young and Beardless for two very good reasons: I am young, and I am beardless. All that really means is I’m still learning and growing and figuring out my life’s purpose.

Review:

While this book is aimed at the male/teen crowd, you might be surprised how ANY teen can get some great life advice from the book, and how it can actually provide inspiration for family time together! John Luke shares about life before the reality show and after, and how it may have changed their lives by giving them opportunities, that they would never have had, it did not change the core values of their family, that had been instilled in them by not only their parents, but by both sets of grandparents. It was very sweet to read about his grandparents on Korie's side, and how much of an influence they also had on his life, as that is something that you don't see much of on the show's episodes. All in all, the reader comes to realize how like many other teens John Luke was, and to appreciate his approach on keeping his moral compass as he matures, and grows in his own marriage. The book is actually very inspirational, and I can see it as a great graduation present for boys especially, but also for girls who love the show, and a way to help to also set their path in life. It would also be a great foundation book for teen bible studies at church, or for church teen groups. Fans of the show will really love the look behind the scenes too! We highly recommend it!
