About the Series:

Bible Belles’ The Adventure of Rooney Cruz, is an original children’s series that presents real life heroes like never before. The series highlights five superhero women of the Bible: Hannah, Esther, Abigail, Ruth and Deborah.

After tossing around some ideas for what to get her niece, Hannah, for her birthday, Erin and her husband, Brent, decided that they didn’t want to buy her just another toy, but something meaningful and special.  So they decided to take the story of Hannah from the Bible, and made her namesake a personalized book, so she could know about a great hero whose name she shared. When they gave her the book, she smiled, shrugged, and said, “I didn’t even know there was a Hannah in the Bible.” The proverbial light went off.

>What if modern girls were just as excited about biblical women as they are about princesses? Women, whose real life examples of true beauty, could make them real heroes for girls today? And a series was born!

They decided to add a main character, also a girl, Rooney Cruz, who embarks on a series of adventures, in each book, that allow her to have an “up close and personal” experience with each Bible Belle. Thanks to some help from her guardian angel Mari, Rooney learns about one special superpower that each Belle possessed, earning the power for herself. From the moment she acquires her first superpower, her transformation into a real life superhero begins. Through her journey, Rooney comes to understand God’s love and the true definition of beauty.

In today’s world, the girls who are loudest are the ones who get noticed. The Bible Belles are extraordinary because they made a different kind of noise. Hannah. Esther. Abigail. Ruth. Deborah. The names of these five women represent a journey that today’s modern girl can take to become someone whose beauty radiates from within, a journey to be H.E.A.R.D.

Review:

This is the 2nd book in the Bible Belles series (Hannah being the first), and it is a very worthwhile effort to get girls, especially, interested in the women of the bible! This is a great book for girls ages 5-11 really, to remind them that not only is God always with them, but that sometimes we need to step back and let God give us the answer we need, before running foolishly into something or saying something, when the time is wrong, and what we hope to accomplish will not happen. Learnng patience is truly a virtue, and this book does a great job is showing the allegory of Rooney and her soccer team, to Esther and her people, so that modern kids can truly understand the meaning of the story, and learn the lesson! We HIGHLY recommend this series for ALL girls!
