How do I know?
Because I'm pretty sure Grandma's box, didn't have an app to tell her, she had taken her pills for the day!
Yup, Sagely has found a way to solve the primary challenge of traditional pill boxes, for the 70 percent of Americans who take prescriptions everyday (did you realize it was THAT high? I didn't either!), including nearly 32 million Americans who take more than five prescriptions daily (eek!).
In fact, it was founder Ivor Miskulin’s experience helping his grandfather with his medications, and their frustrations with traditional pill boxes, that inspired him to create this unique pill box!
The set includes seven individual containers big enough to fit multiple pills (I got up to 20 without a problem), including extra large multi-vitamins. These clear containers are made of clear food-grade, BPA-free materials, that are easily washed with soap and water, when they need to be cleaned. This style allows for visual confirmation and accounting of pills at a quick glance, and with their large lettering, clearly denoting each day of the week, on BOTH sides of the containers, it's easy to keep track of your daily pills.
Each container is divided into half, with two-sided flexible lids, that lift easily (even for those with manual dexterity issues). One side is colored green, the other side blue, to differentiate morning and evening pills. So once you take your morning pills, you turn the container around on the base (see below pix) and you can see at a quick glance, if you took your pills that morning or not! Sometimes simplicity really is a key ingredient!
The lids are very secure, so you can feel safe taking the containers with you on the go as well! I tried them for one day, and none of my vitamins, or Miss Grace's sinus pills popped out at all, while in my bag the whole day! I was pleasantly surprised!
The lids on the containers also feature the Sagely Innovative Push-Through design, that allows pills to be simply pushed through the perforated lid into the container (eliminating the risk of dropping or misplacing pills). You just set the pill on top and push it down. No more struggling to keep lids open, or worry about a container getting knocked over and the pills already inside rolling off onto the floor!
The containers are kept together on a magnetized base, thanks to their bottom magnet strips. This allows each compartment to be easily removed and then returned to the base, with a minimum of movement. Another plus for those with dexterity issues.
And then the feature that raises the bar:
Sagely also created a FREE medication reminder app (available on iPhone and Android),that allows users to input details about each pill, quantity, dosage and time of day. A proprietary alarm then sounds and notifications pop up on your cell, tablet, or computer screen, when it's time to take your medications! And as you can see from the pix above, it lets you know HOW many pills you should be taking as well. This app can be a game-changer for the 19 percent of Americans age 55 to 64 who forget to take their medications! It can also be used to keep track of when a loved one take's their pills, by giving you a remind to check to see if they did!
My only complaint: I do wish they had an alternate box with 3 sections for am/noon/pm pill taking. Though I'm sure based on comments I've seen, that it is being considered for production. But as I know both my parents take pills 3 times a day, it would make life easier. Right now, the solution for them would be to have 2 sets of the Sagely Smart Weekly Pill Organizer, with the 2nd set for evening pills, green for her and blue for him.
You can order the Sagely Smart Weekly Pill Organizer on Amazon (Prime free shipping allowable too!), as it's not in local stores yet. It's a great product and one that we highly recommend! It also makes a great gift for your loved ones too!
And now the best part- ONE lucky BTHM reader
will get to win their own Sagely Smart Weekly Pill Keeper!
