Once Fall gets under way, we all start looking forward to cooking our family's comfort foods for the different holidays, and attending parties.
And the one thing we're always looking for is an unique hostess gift, that will not only keep on giving, but delight the recipient, right?

If you saw the review on Friday for my new revolving cake stand, you saw the first thing we made- a Lemon Poppyseed Cake!
I took the German Poppyseed Cake recipe and added lemon zest from 2 of these lemons to the batter, along with some of the juice from one lemon. Just look at the amount of juice I got from 2 of these lovely lemons. Doesn't it look just too yummy, all by itself?
I then made a simple lemon glaze for the top- using the juice, a touch of milk and confectioners sugar. Did you know you can freeze any leftover glaze? Yup, you sure can, so now I have some fresh lemon glaze ready for the next cake! Yippee!
I love using cake flour in recipes- you get some amazing crumb to your cake! And look at the gorgeous yellow color from the Limoneira lemons! I have to tell you everybody in the house came to the kitchen, even the animals, once it started smelling, as it made the whole house smell amazing!
We're still debating what to do with the rest of the lemons- it's a toss up between lemon meringue pie and the last lemon bars of the season! But that's the beauty of buying through Limoneira- your hostess can bake with lemons any time of the year! Woo hoo! That is something they will love you for!
