EASTER GIFT IDEAS

Still trying to figure out what to get your teen for Easter?

I have an excellent idea for you:

How to Be a Hepburn in a Kardashian World

Synopsis:

Though fashions may change, certain things never go out of style--like your favorite little black dress that can take you from a business meeting to a dinner party to a night on the town. But what makes it work is not the dress, it's how you present yourself while wearing it. A woman who is polite, well spoken, gracious, charming, and thoughtful is always welcome-though such women appear to be in short supply these days! Despite the headline-grabbing antics of certain flashy celebutantes, most of us would rather have respect--for ourselves and from our family, friends, and colleagues.

In this fully revised and updated edition, you will learn how to:

Appear polished without sacrificing your personal style,
Develop skills and discover interests to boost your self-confidence,
Find your true friendships and make them stronger,
- Date Mr. Right instead of hooking up with Mr. Right Now,
- Land the perfect internship and your first job,
Have a fun night without the risk of a social media faux pas.

With this insightful guide you'll be loving life with style, class, and grace in no time!

Review:

if the title of this book sounds familiar, it is because it is actually Jordan's previous book,  How to be Hepburn in a Hilton Worldupdated for 2017 (and the new famous for being famous family). But what made the original book such a MUST have for teens, is still here! the book is still filled with chapters like Stupid Girls, Choose Your Words Wisely, Dress to Impress and Less is More. It is a very quick read!

I would recommend this book for ALL parent of girls and for all girls, but I think it would be better to start around age 8-9 with reading parts of it! Unfortunately in today's age, girls are having to face alot of things sooner than my generation did!

I was raised with an old-fashioned Southern way, so alot of what Jordan speaks of is second nature to me, as it was drilled and redrilled into me growing up. Audrey Hepburn, Kathryn Hepburn, Deborah Kerr, where all women who I watched regularly on old movie re-runs, but saw as smart, defined, styled, cultured, women, who GOT what they wanted by using their brains. The seventies may have been showing me mini-skirts, but I understood that that classic business suit was gonna get me farther and into a better job, than go-go boots!

Things have changed today, kids now emulate the Kardashians, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, etc. Being covered up and taken seriously no longer seems to exist in the media. You only have to look at Facebook, My Space or Girls Gone Wild to know that concepts that should be second nature are no longer taught to the younger generations. I know that background checks are now trolling Facebook and Instagram pages, and what is seen there DOES make a huge difference as to who gets hired, or not. Today's teens don't see that, they just think they are having fun.

Jordan has filled the book with classic quotes to illustrate her rules of behavior-she presents them in funny, daily instance scenarios that anyone can grasp.

The one that sums the book up best is:

"Watch your thoughts, for they become words,
Watch your words, for they become actions,
Watch your actions, for they become habits,
Watch your habits, for they become character,
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny".

The  update to the book really helps to make this the perfect modern Easter gift for any pre-teen/teen, along with a salon gift card, or clothing store card, and a great starting conversation point between mothers and daughters! We highly recommend it.
