EASTER GIFT IDEAS

And now for a product that is great for an Early Easter gift for the whole family!

Raise your hands, if you’re like most people you’re not confident in your tap water

Yup, I'm with you. I've seen the 'allowable standards'. UGH.

Chemicals such as Chromium 6 and Lead continuously pop up in the news, threatening the drinking water in cities across the nation. Both contaminants are blamed for everything from birth defects, autism, and neurological disorders to organ deterioration and cancer. Do you know where your local tap water falls?

There is a quick way to check! Enter your zip code on this page at ZeroWater and see for yourself, if your area's standards have been posted!

Most people either use a Brita pitcher, or they contribute to the $11.8 billion dollars American’s spend on bottled water each year. Think about how many empty bottles of water you recycle, or have lying around in your car. It adds up fast! But is your bottled water really any better than your tap water? If you're savvy and have checked out media releases lately, you know that some bottled water is merely bottled tap water! EEK! Is it really WORTH it to purchase that water?

Probably not, right?

There is a better option, that not only gives you the purest water, but allows you to use YOUR reusable bottles and containers, helping the environment too:

The ZeroWater line of pitchers and bottles offer a patented 5-stage filtration system and removes 50% more dissolved solids than Brita pitchers, and are not only BPA free, but their Pitcher Filtration system is certified by NSF (National Science Foundation International) to remove 99.6% of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), like lead, mercury & chromium 3 and 6 :

If you were like me and not sure what a typical TDS rate SHOULD be, here's some stats:
TDS = Rain water typically registers 000-010 TDS
From your treatment plant to your home water, TDS can climb to 050-300 TDS

That is a SCARY number, isn't it?

Which is why you REALLY need to consider the ZeroWater line of products,
especially if you have kids!

We were sent the 10 cup ZeroWater Pitcher Set- it  includes a one-hand pull and pour-button spout to fill any bottle or cup, an underneath water filter assembly to ensure water passes through the filter and not around it, and it incorporates a TDS meter, to easily test your water at anytime. Which is really great, so you know when it's time to change your filter! You don't have to rely on a guestimate based on usage amounts or how many weeks!

ZeroWater offers different easy-to-use water meters, with their pitcher kits. We were sent the digital meter, which allows you to see EXACTLY how your tap water stacks up when it comes to Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). You can even use the water meter to check the TDS on any bottled or tap  water. You might be really surprised with the results you get!  Let's check out some samples:

This was straight out of the tap- eek!

The purified bottle water we get for my mother, was MUCH better! I also sampled a bottle of water you get from a soda distributor and it was at 110 (but forgot to take a picture)! ARGH!

So one last sample:

From the fridge, with it's expensive water filter- WOW.
I really expected MUCH better than that, as expensive as the filters are!

The ZeroWater system is uber easy to use too! You just unpaack everything, then undo the top of the water filter and screw into the bottom of the pitcher top, making sure it is snug and tight. then pour COLD tap water into it. Now a word of CAUTION. The water has to go through 5 stages of filtration, right? That means it doesn't RUN through the filter, but goes SLOWLY through it! So don;t think it isn't working if it seems like water isn't going through.

So what I did was pour about 4 cups in, then started washing dishes after dinner. When it drained enough, I added 4 more, finished the dishes, and then checked back 15 min later and added the last 2 cups, But during that time, you could get the filtered water, by using the spout!

This was the reading when it had sat for 30 minutes, and over the next hour it did go down even MORE to .10! WOWSA

But the main thing is the TASTE!

The kid swears once it is filtered through the ZeroWater pitcher, it tastes like glacier water. Which makes sense, as all the impurities are GONE, and it resembles rain water, aka natural state water! And I gotta agree with her- it tastes amazing- this is the water that you will WANT to drink all day!

The large pitcher does offer 2 ways to remove water from it, AFTER it has been filtered. You can use the side spout, or for larger amounts, you can use the flip top. Just remember, if there is water in the top that hasn't been filtered down yet, you HAVE to use the bottom spout! For pitchers without it, you will have to wait til all the water has been filtered...

I really LOVE how the TDS meter has a spot on the top of the pitcher lid, that allows it to be kept on it, so you can test, to see when you should change the cartridge. Once the digital meter reaches 006 (or the light indicator lights up, depending on which was included in your product), you should discontinue the use of the expired filter and replace it. For our levels of filtration, a cartridge should last between 20 and 45 gallons of water. Which is well worth the cost!
