Everyone in the country is watching, even the Queen, but the journey soon proves to be filled with drama and danger. A rival zookeeper will stop at nothing to make sure they fail, and soon Danny's shady connections from his past threaten to overturn the mission...

Can Danny win the trust and friendship of the elephant and guide him home? Can the two of them stick together through the odds and win the day?

Review:

Miss Grace recently read Ivan the Terrible, and been entranced with The Greatest Showman, so I knew that this book would interest her, and I wasn't wrong, as she sped through (to the chagrin of her scheduled school work!!). It is a charming story and at only about 300 pages, perfect for upper elementary/middle school reader!

Based on real life events, Miss Grace was quickly caught up in the story of how an orpahned 'saved' himself by buying an elephant and then had to ride it, to meet a bet, and get out of trouble. But life is never easy, and everyturn brings a new adventure, and soemthing to overcome. It is a story of friendship, trust and ultimately faith in one's own perseverance, all goals we want to give our kids. Miss Grace said it needs to be a movie, as kids need more movied about being strong and not counting on things to go your way (a sentiment I also echo)!

If you're looking to add some greta books to your childs Summer reading list, or need a great book for vacation travel time, keep this one in mind!
