"Will you read me a story?"
This simple question is an invitation to share the joy of reading with a child in your life on October 8th, 2009, by helping Jumpstart Read for the Record, by reading the Hungry Caterpillar.
Jumpstart believes that reading aloud with preschool children lays the groundwork for strong literacy skills and future success in school and in life. Jumpstart’s created Read for the Record in 2006, as an international campaign to bring preschool children together with valued grownups in their lives to read the same book, on the same day, in communities all over the world. In 2008, they broke their own world record with nearly 700,000 readers sharing the classic children’s tale, Corduroy. On that one historic day, one amazing book was read aloud in classrooms, libraries and homes from Japan, Germany and Brazil, to cities and rural communities across America. Hushed with wonder and tickled with giggles, children around the world simultaneously experienced the joy of reading.
If you order your book the Jumpstart themselves it is TAX DEDUCTIBLE- it's like getting a free book!
How else can you jump in and make a difference?
So get your copy of the Hungry Caterpillar and be ready to make a difference in a child's life!
I know I will be! And don't worry, I'll give ya'll a reminder before the 8th!
