Book Review/CLOSED/Giveaway: The Confident Woman by Joyce Meyers

I love Joyce Meyers- thanks Mom for letting me know about her!- so anytime Hachette wants to send me one of her books, I'm 100% on board! AND judging by how many people enter the giveaways I have for her books, I think most of ya'll love her too!

Hachette is releasing The Confident Woman By Joyce Meyer in paperback form in two days (2/10, It came out in hardback version in 2006), and they sent me a copy of the softback paperback to review!

Premise: This #1 New York Times bestseller encourages women to boldly embrace all that God created them to be by finding their true confidence. Joyce says "Confidence allows us to face life with boldness, openness and honesty. It enables us to live without worry and to feel safe, It enables us to live authentically."

1. A confident woman knows that she is loved-God loves you unconditionally.
2. A confident woman refuses to live in fear--while you may feel fear, you do not let it ruleo ur decisions and actions.
3. A confident woman is positive-thinking negatively makes you miserable and prevents you from being aggressive and taking control/being confident.
4. A confident woman recovers from setbacks-you are a failure only when you STOP trying, setbacks can be normal and should be understood and learned from.
5. A confident woman avoids comparisons-do the best with what YOU have to work with and don't worry about what somewhat else has.
6. A confident woman takes action-the shy person has to overcome timidness and the bold person has to overcome too much pride.
7. A confident woman does not live in “if only” and “what if” -they only lead to fear and that brings you down and keeps you from attaining the possibilities.Think positive and God will help!

You can get thru this book quickly, as it is very readable and Joyce brings even heady theological discussions down to a easy to understand level (ie, if God did not want to use women in his ministry (as some believe) then why did he include them in the most important events of Jesus' life, and instruct them to tell other????), but I think you would get more from reading it 2 or 3 times!

2. Preparation
3. What to do when the world says "no"
4. Steps to Independence
5. Relationship Between Stress and Fear
6. Winners Never Quit
7. How to Become Courageous- courage is not the absence of fear- it is ACTION in the presence of fear- I LOVE that definition!

I learned many things about how we act and why, and what I can do to change the way I react. I also learned things that I need to incorporate into teachings for my daughter, to teach her to become a bold/confident woman from toddlerhood! Joyce also gives you quite a few history lessons and examples of confident women to inspire and educate you!

I could go on for a long while talking about this book, but I think it is best summed up: If you are a woman, or are raising girls, you NEED this book. If you are raising sons, there are a lot of points in this book that work for the male gender as well, not to mention teaching them that women are not sub-par to men. So you NEED this book as well!
