This may seem like an odd book to post on All Saints Day, but the topics in the book, and the explanation of unconditional love within it, seems to fit perfectly for a day where we remember our loves ones who have passed on!
Synopsis: Eli Canaan is a believer. And, like many, he believes himself to be a principled man. Well, for the most part anyway. But, after a series of misteps, sins, some would say, Eli's life is suddenly and unexpectedly altered forever. A spurned wife, a gypsy, a hex and spiritual intervention may all be at the root of Eli's unexpected, deep and earnest introspection.
About the Author: Sam Moffie has written 4 novels. All have won numerous awards and received good reviews.Sam Moffie graduated from Wittenberg University. He manages two sports bars, serving on the front lines of America’s most heated debate topics: sex, sports and politics. Sam has three children, one son-in-law, one grand daughter, two dogs, two cats and one1 strike-out at marriage. When not writing, he can be found observing human behavior at his 2 bars.
Review: This book fulfills the promise Moffie showed in his earlier books! The first chapter is a little graphic, but once you get past it, Moffie grabs you and keeps you in the story and wanting to see how it turns out. I really do not want to give much away. This is not a large book and it needs to be enjoyed! But I do need to give a caveat, so I do have to tell you more about the story. Basically Eli dies and goes to 'Heaven'. What happens there is interesting (Groucho Marx is his 'guide') as Eli learns about his life and those in it. There are surprising theories, that come from unconditional love, and if you are open, you will NOT be offended by them. IF you are a strict Christian, then this book may NOT be for you, If you are open to God's sense of humor, so to speak, you will greatly enjoy this satirical book!
In fact, my ONLY complaint was the ending! I wanted MORE. But I know that the author wanted to leave it to the readers imagination. I can't wait to read Moffie's next book, it should be as exciting and fun as this one!
