Book Review: Power Thoughts by Joyce Meyers

power thoughts cover
As you all know, in house, we LOVE Joyce Meyer! So when I had the opportunity to review her latest book, a New York Times Advice Book Best Seller, i was quite happy!

Synopsis/Review: Joyce Meyer has a knack for coining phrases-her fans call them Joyceisms-and one of her best loved is "Where the mind goes, the man follows."This was the basis for Battlefield of the Mind, and in her latest book, Meyer provides "power thoughts," bringing the reader to a new level of ability to use the mind as a tool to achievement.

In POWER THOUGHTS, she outlines a flexible program to turn thoughts into habits, and habits into success. Sections include:

· The Power of a Positive You - bad/disgruntled thoughts lead to bad attitudes, which lead to bad dispositions and actions. People who concentrate on the bad, can get passed up for job promotions, raises, and the like. Bosses like to see at least a can do attitude when looking at promoting someone. It makes a whole lot of sense when you think about it! We all weather rough times, but it's how you come out of them, than can foretell your future!

· 5 Rules for Keeping Your Attitude at the Right Altitude -for example, #3 Don;t make major decisions in a rough time. Rough times always pass, and if you make a decision for the wrong reason, it will stay with you and can lead to disgruntled thoughts, which can then lead to a bad attitude!

· Power Thoughts bulleted keys to successful thinking in each chapter- one chapter, per week, for a 12 week program, to turn your life around include, God Love Me Unconditionally, I Love People and Enjoy Helping Them, and I am Content and Emotionally Stable. All the chapters/power thoughts are based on different passages from the bible. She shares them, gives you a Think About It sentence, ie "what are you doing to show love for others?", and then goes into the power thought, and different action, thoughts, beliefs and concepts behind the power thought. She then ends with a Power Pack, of another biblical passage.

· The Power of Perspective-sometimes we need to be 'thunked' on the head for us to realize what we are doing. We need an outside perspective, to see how our actions are showcasing our inner perspectives. Through the 12 week program, Meyer hopes to get you to change that inner perspective!

Nobody has more of a "can-do" attitude than Joyce Meyer, and with this book she shows you how you can have one too! You can read a chapter preview at the Hachette site as well!:

I highly recommend this book as a 12 week devotional not only for yourself, friends or family, but for your family as a whole! I think each chapter has key points that would be excellent for family discussions with your kids to get them to see how their actions may be affecting their attitudes and yours. In the same regard, it is an excellent book for adult bible study classes! PERFECT for everyone on your Christmas list this year!
