Synopsis: “Behind me, stiffened with frost, lie the remains of Victor Frankenstein.”
What becomes of a monster without its maker? At the end of Mary Shelley’s classic novel, the creator dies but his creation still lives, cursed to a life of isolation and hatred.
Frankenstein’s Monster continues the creature’s story as he’s compelled to discover his humanity, to escape the ship captain Robert Walton who vowed to the dying Frankenstein to hunt him down. In retaliation, the monster treks to England to destroy Walton's family only to befriend and fall in love with Walton's capricious niece, Lily Winterbourne—the woman who would destroy them all.
This is a tale of passion, revenge, violence, and madness—and the desperate search for meaning in an often meaningless world.
About the Author: A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Susan grew up in a town so small that not even people in the next town over had heard of it. (Amazing but true.) She now lives in another small town, which a visitor from Manhattan once described as the "end of the world." Since you might be eaten by bears trying to find it, she recommends that you visit her at her bear-free website at www.susanheyboerokeefe.com.
Review: I was never a big fan of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein- it was ok, but I was more into the vampire books! But this book made me want to go back and re-read Shelley's book! I LOVED this book! From the first page O'Keefe grabs you and keeps you enthralled with her tale. I am very sure that Shelley would be MORE than pleased with her work!
This book takes you on a roller coaster ride across the continent (Europe) and a story with many twists and turns that keeps the reader, like the monster Frankenstein, guessing where the tale will end. O'Keefe makes the monster human and humans monsters in such a way that invites the reader into the story as both witness and judge. The book will stay with you for days, as the tale of what is humanity resounds in your memory! This is one of the books you MUST read this year!
Contest will end on February 12th, at midnight. Winner will be picked by Random Number (random.org) on February 13th, and emailed. As soon as winner's info is received, I will mail their book to them the following week!
