This is a great little cookbook! It's has EVERYTHING from appetizers, to side dishes, to main courses, to desserts, to snacks and even party food! Alot of the focus is on Strawberry or Grape jams and jellies, but just about all of the recipes can be substituted with your favorite jam/jelly flavor! It's a great little cookbook to have on hand, for those, 'what will I fix today?' moments! AND it has some great vintage ads for Welchs's, along with the company history.  I love it so much that when I saw a copy I new I had to get it for you, my dear readers!


But FIRST, how about a sample recipe? 

 Saucy & Sweet Chicken

Ingredients

• 3 lbs fryer chicken, quartered
• 2 tbsp cornstarch
• 1 tbsp dry mustard
•  all purpose flour
• 1 cp Welch's Grape Juice
• 1 cp Welch's Grape Jam
• 1/4 cp water
• 1/2 cp vegetable oil
• Salt to taste
• Pepper to taste
• 2 sprigs rosemary
• 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar

Directions

1. In saucepan, combine grape juice and jam. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth.
2. Blend cornstarch and mustard with the water. Set aside.
3. Coat chicken with mixture of flour, salt and pepper. 
4. Heat oil in frying pan and add chicken. Brown chicken, turning occassionally.
5. Remove to warm plate.
6. Stir cornstarch mix, rosemary and vinegar into grape sauce and cook until slightly thickened. Serve over chicken.

 Note: I like to also take a bunch of red grapes and cut in half, and put in the grape sauce right before serving over the chicken, or place on chicken, then ladle sauce over both.
