AH- time for something NOT pink, or related to PINK!

pecan gap cover

Synopsis: Detective Jake Somers has made many memorable trips from Dallas to the East Texas town of Pecan Gap. The quiet little town contains what remains of his mother Josie's old family home and is the source of many of his happiest childhood memories.

However, the past few trips have given him cause for concern. Old friends have told him about the unusual disappearance of residents, vandalism, and flickering lights moving in the night--all very unsettling in a quiet farm community.

These stories have triggered memories of strange things that happened to him when he visited as a child. Jake's intuitive nature, and his love for the ancestral home, will not let him rest until he solves the mystery in Pecan Gap.

On the other hand, his drive to unscramble the puzzle is hampered by his need to deal with an equally troubling situation in Dallas that involves his girlfriend, the D.A.'s office, a city councilman, a drug dealer, and the FBI. Jake's personal family ties to Pecan Gap and his close relationship with the Dallas district attorney's office forces him to deal with both cases at once!

About the Author: Don Castle enjoyed a successful career as an advertising executive, often using his talent for creative writing and storytelling as an outlet from the stress of his profession. Initially he directed his talents to songwriting. This led to work as a record producer. "Pecan Gap" is the culmination of his dream to expand the tablet for his storytelling expertise. Don was born and raised in Texas and now resides with his family in Arkansas. You can visit his website, http://www.authordoncastle.com/, for more info!

Review: It's hard to believe this is Castle's first major book! It reads like 2 or 3 in a series, it is that well formed! In many ways it reminds me of the Spencer series by Robert Parker. Somers has the same coolness about him, yet is approachable and dedicated to those he loves. Anyone who knows small towns will recognize Pecan Gap and it's citizens. Ok, well maybe not the source of the missing people (LOL), but the rest of a small town approaching decay and hanging on by it's teeth. The book flowed easily from big city and the fast pace to the small town and ease. This is a quick read and both men and women will like it! It is the perfect light read for Spring, for those who love mysteries!

Series Alert: Castle's next novel Bryan Point, comes out later this year and will feature Jake Somers continuing his crime fighting efforts. This time he takes on an under-world figure who has some very unusual electronic expertise. YEAH !!!
