Product Review: Knorr's Homestyle Stock

knorr's homestyle chicken stock

Thanks to Smiley360, our family recently got to try the new Knorr Homestyle Chicken Stock

"The heart of a great dish is a great tasting stock, and the secret ingredient is Knorr Homestyle Stock. It does all the seasoning for you," says celebrity chef Marco Pierre White.
You can add it to any dish that has liquid, by substituting it for some or all of the liquid!
With Knorr® Homestyle Stock, you’ll find:

  • The most carefully selected ingredients slowly simmered to perfection.

  • Versatility for a multitude of dishes, from soups to skillets to sides.

  • A better value than cartons or cans – each tub makes 3-1/2 cups of broth.

  • Two great varieties for adding rich flavor to dishes with either the chicken or beef flavors.

  • No MSG, low in fat and cholesterol

  • We decided to go with chicken first and try it. The first thing Mom did was use it to liven up her normal pot pie recipe.

Sorta hard to tell I know- but it gave the gravy a great color (had been white), and talking about taking your gravy up a notch! WOW- the spices really made the pot pie taste like something from a fine restaurant! It was really surprising how much difference a homestyle stock CAN make! From making simple soups, rice and potatoes, taste like you slaved ALL day on them, to really kicking up your traditional favorite recipes!

Our second recipe trial was with the Beef stock. We used in in our regular sausage and beef marinara sauce, that we used for baked Rigatoni. WOW. Talk about tasting like it came from an Italian restaurant! Everybody wanted seconds (and some thirds!). We were really impressed at what a difference such a little bit of stock can make.

Three things to note about the new Knorr stocks:
    1. The sodium content is obviously HIGH, so do NOT salt any dishes you are putting them into, until you have cooked the stock into them. You probably will NOT need any!
    2. The stocks cost about $1.10 per pod. So definitely keep an eye out for coupons (especially on their Facebook page!)
    3. The package is not real sturdy, so after you open it, and use 1/2 pods, you may want to store the remaining pods in a sturdy container, so they don't get punctured accidentally.

Interested in some recipes, using the stocks, check out the Knorr website, for recipes from Chef Marco Pierre White and the Knorr Chefs! They've also have video instructions for the recipes on You Tube!
