It's getting harder and harder to find great quality movies for the ENTIRE family, that have morals, drama and family life. So when I'm offered great dvds from Propeller, I know not only will my family like them, but YOUR family will too!
The movie is officially released on dvd tomorrow, the 13th!
Synopsis: Matthew Stevenson is a troubled kid from a broken home. When he vandalizes the local church to get back at his parents, Matthew has to repair the damage to the church to avoid criminal charges. While working at the church, he meets Ernest (John Ratzenberger), an accomplished wood carver who created the intricate woodwork decoration that Matthew destroyed. Ernest has become something of a hermit, but reluctantly comes out of reclusion to help repair the church. Now Ernest and Matthew must work together to preserve the church's beautiful antiquity, and along the way, they also manage to restore their faith in God and in life.

Review: This was a wonderful family film. It is honest about how some families can be dysfunctional (some may be put off at the early yelling scenes), and shows an unique way of bringing them all back together as a strong family. I am a firm believer in responsibility, and it is one characteristic, we are making sure to instill in Kiddo!
I also liked the analogy of Christ the Carpenter, with Ernest the woodcarver. And as Ernest teaches Matthew woodwork, he teaches him WHAT would Jesus do in a tangible way, that will leave a life long lesson. In fact, this is a lesson that we have been delving into at our church, about the difference ONE person can make, when they truly 'walk the walk' as a Christian, versus posing as one, when it is convenient, and how your actions may influence others more than your words can.
I recommend this movie for the entire family, for church movie nights, and Sunday school classes!
