Ok, so I'm just a tad late on posting this- it's been a LONG week!!!!!!!!!
We were all asked to march in the Krewe of Erin St Patrick's Day Parade in Ponchatoula,
last weekend, courtesy of Suz's son's girlfriend, who is last year's reigning Queen of the Parade, and her sister, who is THIS year's Queen of the Parade! When the kids were asked if they wanted to be IN the parade, or watch and get beads, they enthusiastically said IN the parade! So there ya go, onward we went!
Because we both are just a tad bit Martha-ish, aka anal, we put together some cool throws:
That would be the recipe for Irish Stew, with mini potatoes and carrots in the cool Avery bags (which I reviewed last month!), and some cool plastic alligators, and cool alligator beads. Why gators? You'll see, keep reading! We also had regular beads in green, white and orange. Tod you we were anal.
Add 17 bunches of wood roses, some plastic leis (decor become throws!) and some leftover Mardi Gras beads, and that wagon was FULL! And yes, we were one flag short- don't know how we lost it!
This was the kids and us, and last year's Queen. And NO we did NOT intend to match tutus on the girls! I bought Kiddo's with her adorable St patty's Hello Kitty ribbon from
and the Queen had her's made by her mom. Her's had glitter on it, much to Suz's son's chagrin (quote: "MOM< it goes EVERYWHERE and doesn't come OFF". Yeah he's SUCH a GUY!).
Le Crew- This year's queen, her dad and mom,.Suz's son and his girlfriend, last year's queen, Kiddo and Suz' step-grandson-to-be!
Another le Crew shots, with Suz and I! Ya gotta dog he green hair! Mine had green streaks in it-but hard to tell from this pix!
Throwing the beads!
Even the city got in on the spirit and dyed the water in the fountains green!
The Grand Marshall of the parade and Kiddo. Suz got the adorable shot, and then Kiddo asked if she could have the flowers...yeah, embarassment moment for Mom, but the GM laughed and explained no, "they were special for her only". Kiddo said "oh, well that means you are VERY special!". Everybody laughed and Mom said WHEW!
Can you say POOPED out?????
That power mile in 35 minutes, while throwing EVERYTHING in the wagon to the crowds
can be TIRING. But when asked was it more fun to catch beads or give them away?
Both kids answered "GIVE AWAY! Can we do it AGAIN?"
Makes a Mom proud!
So proud, that ice cream was the SURPRISE bonus, for a job well done!
And YES< that IS an alligator in the background! Ponchatoula has had
ol' Hardtack in a pen at the railroad tracks for EONS. THUS, the reason we grabbed alligators to throw! AHA< you knew I'd tell you the reason!
We had fun and hope to see you there next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
