Late last month we reviewed Dr. Chapman's new kids's book, A Perfect Pet for Peyton
which introduces the 5 love languages to kids,
and here is the original book!

The 5 Love Language for Children cover
Synopsis:  To be their best, children need to feel loved. But if you and your child speak different love languages, your affection might get lost in translation, affecting the child’s attitude, behavior, and development. Dr. Gary Chapman’s groundbreaking Five Love Languages series has helped millions of couples communicate love more clearly, and Dr. Ross Campbell M.D. has applied the innovative system to children as well. The 5 Love Languages of Children gives practical suggestions for learning how your children interpret love and creating a sense of security in which they can thrive.

Review:  Suzanne was a big proponent of Dr Chapman and his love languages of kids, when her kids were young, so I feel like I've been around the concepts for over 15 years (it's been around since 1992)!  For her it was literally a Godsend, as he boys are VERY different in how they react to and handle their emotions. By using the ideas, she was better able to understand, discipline and help them handle their emotions.

Because Kiddo is so young, her love language is really not defined enough, per the way they are described in the book (Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch). For her, she hits on all 5 languages, so for us it is more of a guideline. The book will help you will other relationships besides your kids (siblings, spouses, even coworkers). Yes, it's basic psychology, but once you read the book and learn it, you will be amazed at what a difference it makes in how you react to people in your life!
