CD Review and Giveaway: Rock-o-Matic CD/DVD by Imagination Movers

In 2002, four New Orleans friends – Rich Collins, Scott Durbin, Dave Poche and Scott “Smitty” Smith – started gathering at bbqs and after their kids’ bedtimes, to write songs and brainstorm ideas about a children’s television show. They had their public performing debut at the Krewe of Muses' 2003 float-viewing party-how much more NOLA can you get than that? Two years later, they were one of NOLA's most loved bands, with kids AND adults singing along at their shows, thanks to videos on Louisiana PBS stations! Hurricane Katrina interrupted their Disney show plans momentarily, but they came back and their tv show was an instant hit, as were their records for the Disney label, increasing their popularity nationally!

Sticking to their NOLA roots, their show was produced at the University of New Orleans Foundation’s Nims Center Studios in Harahan, with many of their crew members, friends and people they went to high school with in NOLA. Which was actually why I first turned their show on for Kiddo- I had found out that scott and Smitty had attended my high school's 'brother school'. Which in the weird cultural parlance of NOLA, meant they were fellow alumnae! Kiddo instantly loved them, and loves rocking out and drumming along to their songs!

Rock-o-Matic coverThis new cd/dvd, Rock-O-Matic, is their first to be recorded off the Disney label! To support the release, they are kicking off the second leg of their 2012 North American tour on September 21st. They will be traveling all over North America and Canada. Make sure you check out the tour page, as you can enter to win VIP tickers for YOUR closest venue!

The cd includes
“Everybody Sing", "Rock-o-Matic" and “Dear Old Dad". To be it seemed a little more 'mature', than their previous cds. But it has their layered mix of rock, world beats like ska, and hip-hop, that will have you tapping your feet and your kids jumping and dancing around! As the guys have said "it's a party and everyone's invited'! If you can listen without moving your feet or fingers, then you gotta be deaf! Kiddo LOVED the new songs and grabbed her guitar and drum sticks to rock out along with the boys! Check out the video for "Everybody SIng":

Bet your kids did the "drop down, stand up, shake your tail feathers, put your hands up" when they heard it didn't they? LOL. That's what I've always loved about their music- it gets Kiddo UP and MOVING. There is no complacent watching when they are singing and rocking out!

The 30 minute companion DVD features live-action and animated music videos, as well as Imagination Mover skits, that will have your kid laughing and acting along! The guys are great at getting your kid involved in everything they do, and are superb in concert!
