Book Review and Giveaway: The Good Daughter by Jane Porter

Welcome to our stop on The Good Daughter book tour!

Synopsis: In The Good Daughter, Kit Brennan has met someone who may change her forever. She has met a man on a girls’ weekend away who challenges who she is. Kit, a Catholic school English teacher, is turning 40 soon and has been second-guessing all the choices she’s made in her life. She’s thinking she should skip love and marriage and just raise a kid on her own. But when she meets a man who challenges who she is and should be, what does she do next?

The second of the Brennan Sisters novels, The Good Woman was the first, author Jane Porter writes of Kit, the most grounded of her close-knit family. Kit’s struggling with the fact that everyone around her is falling in love…except her. Kit wants love; she wants a family. She just doesn’t know if now is the right time to do it on her own.

Review:  Where to begin? This is SO much more than a simple romance, simple piece of family fiction. It is the story of the choices we make, how we love, and how our family life defines us. Add in how to deal with your beloved mother dying, and you may need some Kleenex handy for this one!

As always the Brennan family sage will grab you and not let you go- you'll find yourself finishing the book in one sitting, crying, laughing, smiling and unable to wait for the next installment! I love that each book focuses on one of the sisters, but includes them all as revolving characters, so you see their lives changing as a family whole, not just the main character. And I figured out the mystery of Kit's new man pretty quickly, but the mystery was in how he would tell her and what would he do.

Everything ends up in an ending that is open, yet perfect. You know there will be a huge change in the family with the next book (no other way to be) and I truly hope that Jane gives us a bout of double happiness to ease the family's sadness (hint hint Jane!). I can't wait to read the next Brennan family saga and I know you'll love this one too!
