Book Review: God Gave Us Easter by Lisa Tawn Bergren, Illus by Lauren J. Bryant

As you know, we are HUGE fans of all of Lisa and Laura's books
and Miss Grace has literally grown with them,
so we were happy to review this latest book!

Synopsis: God loved us so much he wanted us to always be with him too. That’s why God knew he’d need to give us Easter.”

As Little Cub celebrates Easter with Papa, Mama, and her brother and sister, she begins to ask her papa questions about this very special day of the year.  Papa lovingly explains God’s plans for his children, while taking Little Cub on a memorable walk through her stunning Arctic world, and he shares how Easter came about in clear, simple terms that even the
littlest cubs can understand.

Review: Miss Grace LOVES the illustrations in all of the God Gave Us series SO much! I had barely opened the envelope before she was grabbing this one out of my hands and running off to the sofa to look at it. Course it helps that Easter is her third favorite event (after Christmas and her birthday, LOL). This rainbow page was her favorite!

The story celebrates Easter and Miss Grace loved the idea that Easter is God's promise made new to us every year. As a parent, I was happy to see that lauren tied in Easter Eggs as a reminder of Jesus coming out from the tomb, like a chick comes from an egg. Many times Christians want to do away with ALL secular items involving Easter and forget they began with meanings tied into the biblical story.

I also loved how she shared how God forgives us when we make bad choices, It was a wonderful choice of wording and helps kids understand they can be forgiven and are ALWAYS loved by God.
Miss Grace and I had a serious discussion about this, as she was having some issues with school and needed to understand God doesn't require us to be perfect, just to try to be good as much as we can. The book also gave us a lead in to discuss hearing God's word in nature and when we are quiet and truly listen with our hearts.

This is a lovely book and one that would be perfect for annual reading every Easter and perfect for an Easter gift basket!
