Product Review: L'Oreal Paris Magic BB Cream

I found out about BB cream last year and instantly became a convert,
so I was interested to see if L'Oreal's entry into the BB cream world would be as great
as the BB cream I have been using!

L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream  is a 4 in 1 product, that provides a bare-skin finish while protecting your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays.

1. Perfects: It blends with the natural color of the skin by using encapsulated pigments within the cream.
2. Protects: It protects against pore clogging and acne caused by foundation buildup.
3. Hydrates: It provides moisture, Vitamins C & E, and anti-oxidants to give your skin a healthy glow, and to help heal and reapir your skin
4. Corrects- The oil-free, light weight formula covers blemishes

It comes in 4 shades: Fair, Light, Medium, and Deep. Due to having a gold undertone, I selected the Light, and it was a good shade for me.This bb cream is different from my normal BB cream, in a couple of different ways:
1. It is thinner and 'runny', but smoothes in just fine. Some had called it like 'melted ice cream', where my normal cream is thicker.
2. It is made to blend into the skin, and does not provide color coverage, check out the two side by side on my hand, and then blended in (my regular bb cream on left, L'oreal on right):

before bb cream after bb cream

Thus when I use it, I tend to cover with light mineral powder foundation.  Basically the L'Oreal bb cream is more of a primer, whereas the other cream is a primer and foundation. Depending on your needs, the L'Oreal cream may be better for everyday use, using just where you need it, like under the eyes, on the forehead, etc. For me it was more of a primer, rather than being able to put it on and walk out the door,

3.It has no UV protection like my other BB cream, which in today's make up field, seems odd.

I found that it is very lightweight and after your put it on, your skin will have a silky feel in that area, and that makeup will apply very easily over it. When I was couldn't find my eye shadow primer the other day, I used a dab of this cream and it worked just fine, keeping the shadow in place most of the day.

As to how well it hides imperfections, I'm 50/50 on it. If I am having a bad 'rosacea' type day, then it doesn't always cover all the red, like my other BB cream. But if it's a normal day, with minor blemishes, it provides more than adequate coverage, I had no reactions to it, and with my sensitive skin, that's a plus!

This cream is great as a primer, but it won't replace my current BB cream as the only one I use. Rather, I will use it as a primer for everyday, saving the other BB cream for when I need full coverage.
I recommend it as a valuable asset to your makeup box!

  1. I have kinda given up on BB Creams. I have not found one that gives me the coverage I need without having to add powder. i think they have a purpose. I hear this is a great product. :)
