Luxury Hidden Veggie Pasta Can Help YOU Fool the Kids! (Review and Giveaway)

shamrockWas there some fooling of the kids this morning with some green milk, green pancakes and leprechaun footprints?

AHA, I knew it- see you aren't opposed to fooling the kids when it's fun and good for them, right?

How about making sure they get a FULL serving of vegetables in every 4 oz. serving of pasta they eat, even if it's only covered in cheese?

You just said oooo, didn't you?

Well I am happy to tell you that Luxury Pasta has figured out a way to help you make sure the kids get those extra vegetable servings with their new Luxury Hidden Veggie Pasta, that looks, and tastes, like regular pasta!

Luxury has been meeting Louisiana's pasta needs since 1914- so you know it is a brand you can trust!

Luxury sent us the complete line oi new product line of products to try (not pictured is the thin spaghetti):

I was thrilled to see both thin and regular spaghetti, as we like to use both in our different Italian dishes. And we keep penne noodles in 4 gallon container, so they are pretty much a HUGE staple for us! They also sent a super Baggu shopping bag that folds up smaller than my cell phone, yet can hold up to 50 pounds (!!!) when opened-that is the equivalent of 2-3 shopping bags, making it perfect for your run to the grocery store! And I love that I can fold it back up and slide it into my purse when I'm done suing it! And the large handles means you can sling it on your shoulder comfortably too!

As you can see, you really can NOT tell the difference between the Veggue Pasta and regular pasta:

I wished I had had the same size pasta to make it a little harder- but the Veggie pasta is on the right. It has the same feel of the pasta on the left as well.

We tried the spaghetti with marina and it tasted just fine.

Then we decided to tweak a recipe that I had just found on Pinterest, from Cinammon Spice & Everything Nice, and would be a great way to see if the family noticed any difference:

Cheesy Shrimp Veggie Pasata Bake

Cheesy Shrimp Veggie Pasta Bake

Ingredients:
6 tablespoons butter, plus more for baking dish
Sea salt
Ground fresh black pepper
1 pound Luxury Hidden Veggie Small Penne pasta(which is about a box and a half)
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 pound boiled shrimp, shelled, deviened and detailed, cut in half or in 3, depending on size
(you can also use crawfish or crabmeat, or cooked chicken)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp minced garlic
6 cups milk(whole works best, but you can use skim)
1 can diced tomatoes, drained well and chopped into small pieces
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded (fine) or grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:

1. Boil shrimp in your preferred method, ie with Cajun spice. Drain and cut into half or in thirds, depending on the size.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
3. n a large pot of boiling salted water, cook pasta 3 minutes short of al dente; drain pasta
4. Coat large casserole dish with butter or olive oil spray
5. NOTE: have all your ingredients ready for this step- you don't want to scorch the butter! In dutch oven, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and garlic; cook, whisking, 1 minute. While whisking, gradually add milk; bring to a simmer, whisking frequently.
6. Add tomatoes; cook 1 minute, turn off heat.
7. Gradually stir in Mozarella and 1/2 cup of the Parmesan. It will be thick!
8. Add shrimp and pasta to pot; season with salt and pepper. Stir well!
9. Add contents of pot into your prepared baking dish; sprinkle the top with the remaining 1/2 cup of Parmessan cheese.
10. Bake, uncovered, until top is golden and bubbling, about 25 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Note: After tasting, we all decided adding some sliced red peppers and mushrooms, would also be a yummy addition!

And what was the family's reaction?

YUMMY- seriously everybody wanted thirds, besides seconds! LOL  Even the kid could NOT tell the difference! And the best part- it gets better as leftovers! So if you don't eat it all n one meal, it's great to freeze and reheat!

We are totally SOLD on using the Veggie Pasta, especially as we discovered it is mere pennies more than the regular pasta. See Luxury not only thinks about getting kids to eat veggies, but saving you money! And if you DO have a picky eater, this is a great way to get them to get their needed veggies per day!

In our area, the Hidden Veggie pasta is available at Walmart and WInn Dixie. You can check out the Luxury website product finder tool to find out which of your local stores has it! AND you can get a coupon on the Luxury Facebook page too!
