April is Autism Month and the New Stats are SHOCKING!

Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. Autism is defined by a certain set of behaviors and is a "spectrum disorder" that affects individuals differently and to varying degrees. There is no known single cause for autism, but increased awareness and funding can help families today

In the 1980s, one in 10,000 children was affected by autism.

Last year, I reported to you that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) concluded that the prevalence of autism had risen to 1 in every 110 births in the United States and almost 1 in 70 boys, in 2009

The most recent CDC statistic report is that 1 in every 50 children has autism—a shocking increase !

What that translates into is:

EVERY TWENTY MINUTES A CHILD IS DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM.

Autism is no longer just a word; it’s a life for over five million people in the United States and their families.

SO please Support your local Autism events, it could affect YOUR family sooner than you think!
