It's officially Summer in Louisiana- we went from 72 degree days to 88 degrees with 80 percent humidity, making it fill like 93 degrees out (at least). And with that heat comes the Summer sun, which can be relentless when you are outside during Summer activities, even the backyard BBQ!

It's also when you will see the most sunglasses for sale! And while the most important reason to wear sunglasses is to protect your eyes, it is also to provide better vision while driving during bright sunlight! Did you know that damage to your eyes can occur from the intensity of sunlight and from UV radiation? Yup, so having a good pair of sunglasses that protect your eyes is VERY important, not only for you, but for all your family members!

You should be looking for sunglasses that are labeled with a 100% UVA/UVB tag, as these are the ones that can filter out the harmful UV rays, which can cause damage to the soft eye tissues, and even cataracts! Different types of sunglasses may offer protection against the brightness of the sun, but unless they are marked with 100% UVA or  UVB, they won't protect you! Polarized lenses are most effective in reducing the reflection of the sun's brightness off objects,, like water and roads, and most are UVA/UVB, making them your best choice!

I was recently sent 2 pairs of polarized sunglasses to check out. Both of which would make excellent graduation, Father's Day and birthday gifts this Summer! They are different styles, but as you will see, offer some great protection!

First up is my favorite- Guideline Eyegear Draft Sunglasses!

Quite a few of the guys I work with have these sunglasses and swear by them! They are very sport-oriented looking and built for both on-the-water and on-the-trail use. I have found that they are excellent for driving as well, especially when going over water. I tested them over the weekend, when driving to NOLA, and having to cross the 20 mile Causeway bridge. I was amazed at how well they took away all the brightness and glare, yet gave me a clear field of vision, all the way around!

While this isn't the best picture, I wanted to show how dark they are, yet how much detail you can see. They are built from eco-friendly Grilamid BTR, and they come equipped with floating nose pads, brow ventilation and extra durability, in a lightweight frame. And they are light weight- I wore them all day with no problems! AND they are a bargain at under $60, as you get that nifty PADDED case with them, to protect the lenses when you aren't wearing them!

The second pair I was sent was the Fisherman Eyewear’s Mahi sunglasses

These glasses are perfect to help protect his eyes while fishing, hiking, exploring the great outdoors—with the proper outdoor equipment. These sleek frames have a seriously sturdy build, spring-hinged frame and still clock in at under $30. Plus you have 3 colorations to choose from, so you can find the one that is perfect for dad or your grad! And they look pretty cool too!

As you can see below, they offer great protection against the sun's brightness, yet still give you great detail!
