Thanks to NetGalley, I was recently able to read 3 French mysteries, that have been translated by Anne Trager for her Le French Book line of books!

Anne believes that there are some great French books and authors to rival the American ones, but because they don't get translated, not too many people get to read them. Le French Book is a digital-first publisher that brings France's best crime fiction, thrillers, novels, short stories, and non-fiction to new readers across the English-speaking world. If they love it, they’ll translate it. And that means you and I get to read some EXCELLENT books! Because let's be honest, I may read French better than I speak it, but reading a WHOLE novel? Nope. not gonna happen!

I'm going to be sharing 3 of the translated books with you this week- they would be perfect to add to that Kindle or tablet you bought for Mom, and surprise her with!

Up first, a delve into wine country!

 Treachery in Bordeaux cover

Synopsis: In modern-day Bordeaux, there are few wine estates still within the city limits. The prestigious grand cru Moniales Haut-Brion is one of them. When some barrels turn, world-renowned winemaker turned gentleman detective Benjamin Cooker starts asking questions. Is it negligence or sabotage? Who would want to target this esteemed vintner? Cooker and his assistant Virgile Lanssien search the city and the vineyards for answers, giving readers and inside view of this famous wine region.

Treachery in Bordeaux is the first of the 20-book Winemaker Detective series that delves into the underworld of a global luxury industry. The world of wine is no more respectable than the world of finance. There's money, deceit, death, crime, inheritance, jealousy-all the ingredients needed to distill a fine detective series.

Review: I started with this ebook by accident (I had wanted to read Friday's book first), and after I had started it, didn't want to put it down! In fact I finished it in one sitting! I learned SO much about wine making and the chemistry involved! But more than that is was a good little mystery- nothing wasted, and I still wasn't sure totally who was behind the mystery til the end! Always a good thing! The book would be perfect for a book club to have a 'wine' night with and I am looking forward to more tranlations of the 20 book sin this series!

As always, Anne's translations are superb and you don't realize you are reading a translated book. Kudos to Anne for picking a great novel to translate!

About the Authors: Prize-winning author Jean-Pierre Alaux–a magazine, radio and television journalist and true Epicurean–teamed up with writer and musician Noël Balen to write the Winemaker Detective Series, which now has 20 books.

About the Translator, Anne Trager has lived in France for over 26 years, working in translation, publishing and communications. In 2011, she woke up one morning and said, “I just can’t stand it anymore. There are way too many good books being written in France not reaching a broader audience.” That’s when she founded Le French Book to translate some of those books into English. The company’s motto is “If we love it, we translate it,” and Anne loves crime fiction about as much as she loves wine.
