Yup, they have been! The brand got it's start at the onset of WWII, when  Dr. William Gump creates a germicidal compound to keep American uniforms free of fungus. That compound, dubbed G-11, would become the active ingredient in Dial soap! Within 10 years doctors were recommending it to their patients to keep them germ free as well! 

I had to share that ad- funny isn't it? 

We've come a LONG way from that one and only bar of Dial soap!
