One of the best things about Summer for Mom is NOT having to wash and iron school uniforms!

Ironing is not fun for most people, and if you have an old iron,
it may be more drudgery than it needs to be!

I was recently sent a T-fal Ultraglide Easycord Iron to review, and I'm sure you heard my scream of joy when I pulled it out of the box. Just look what it was replacing:

replaced iron

You see the electrical tape on the cord?
(and my 'oops' typo I caught after the post went live and I erased the picture? yeah one of THOSE days...)

The cat ate the cord.

Yes, a regular house cat decided to EAT the cord of the iron.

Literally 14,000 other things in the house for him to disperse his pent up aggression on, and he picks the cord of my then new iron. Yes, he's alive- the ex wouldn't let me flay him...

The iron worked, but not at it's optimum and not without a whole lot of sputtering and dripping!

Now look at it's Cinderella replacement:

T-fal Ultraglide Easycord Iron

You can see all the differences can't you?

What you can't see is how it makes it quick and easy for wrinkles to disappear, with its powerful steam and non-stick ceramic sole plate, that has 64 steam holes  and 37 micro holes. and 27 large steam holes for supreme steam and wrinkle removal! In fact, in 20 competitions, it was declared #1 in glideability and the fastest iron! Seriously- wrinkles just seem to disappear in one swift movement, making your ironing time decrease tremendously! AND the scratch resistant sole-plate has a lifetime warranty (1 year on the rest of the iron)- how super is that?

But the steam starts back at the beginning- you can use tap water in this iron- no need for special distilled water, and no worry about having hard or soft water! The water is placed in a specially designed large chamber that is easy to fill, holds 9 oz of water, and that has a tight secure top, making for NO spillage! Then the round temperature control is easy to read, with steam settings in a different color, so you know at a glance if you are steam ready or not! AND I love that as the iron heats up, the temperature light increases, then turns off when it reaches the correct temp, so you know when it is ready to go- no more touching the sole plate to see if it is hot enough (quick hands up for who has burned their hand doing this?!).

Steam is king with this iron and you can vertically steam with it as well- making it easy to steam curtains in place, or dresses that are difficult to iron! And on pleats? Let me tell you- I thought it was bad in high school, with our pleated uniforms, but I've got 3 years behind me of Miss Grace's pleated skirts, and 12 more to go. SIGH, pleats are now my life! THIS iron makes iron pleats a breeze! All you do is line them up, and then hit with the steam and you have some excellently pressed pleats! Easy Peasy!

When you have to iron 5-6 shirts and 4 pleated skirts (per week), the one thing that can get pretty aggravating is the cord getting in your way and wrinkling parts of your garment that you already ironed! With the T-Fal Easycord system that is a problem from the past! The system keeps the cord out of the way and prevents re-wrinkling of already ironed fabrics. Yeah, another feature that reduces your ironing time!

In fact it makes it SO easy to do, that even the 6 yr old wants to take a spin or two!

Ever forget to turn off your iron, or wonder if you did and it drive you crazy til you get back home?

No worries with the T-Fal Ultraguide! After a minute of non-use it shuts itself off! Whew! Now if all our appliances were this smart our lives would be like the Jetsons, wouldn't they?

And lastly, if you're like me, cleaning your iron was on the list of Spring cleaning chores that you usually never got around to! But with this T-Fal iron, it is as simple as using the iron! It has a n anti-scale valve for extended life and to ensure constant flow of steam, thus keeping your iron clean! You gotta love it!

T-fal Ultraglide Easycord Iron is available at the big box stores and small appliance dealers for under $50. It is a steal with how much time it can save you doing the hated chore of ironing! I am sold on this iron and it will be the only I buy from now on! There is no other iron I would recommend!

How about some ironing tips for those of you with and without a T-Fal Ultraguide?

Ironing tips, courtesy of T-fal Linen Care:

1. Ironing will be easier and faster if the items are not too dry. If they are, lightly spray with water ten minutes before ironing.
2. Make sure to sort out the laundry accordingly – read the labels carefully so that you can easily work up from the coolest to the hottest temperature and avoid ruining a garment.
3. Test whether your water is hard by putting a spoonful of soap flakes into a bowl with two cups of water and mix vigorously. If bubbles appear that means your water is soft-helpful to know if you are able to use tap water in your iron..
4. If you are unsure about ironing a particular item, test a hidden part of the fabric with the tip of your iron.
5. When ironing delicate or dark items, place a clean towel or press cloth between fabric and iron. For black dresses or trousers, use the steam setting with the iron touching the fabric.

Thank T-Fal for making my life easier,
and ironing less of a chore!

  1. I recently found out that some of my friends don't even own an iron! And maybe this is catty - but I can tell! ;-)
I love the automatic shut off feature of this iron. I will look at this one next time I am in the market.

    1. geez- my mom gave me one when I moved out! LOL I'm with you- the auto shut off is great. I have found that with a 6 yr old I frequently have to stop and go see what she needs/wants and it turns off, but a quick push or turn of one of the dials or steam buttons, and it comes back on and heats back up quickly. I can live with that, as the safety feature out weighs the annoyance! LOVE this iron and you will too!
